Case Summary: I live in Los Angeles and I have been living in my apartment for 1 year and 5 months, since the beginning of the lease the landlord has been very unhelpful, so much that they never gave me a copy of my contract, or a code for the main gate. I sent them a letter months after I moved in, indicating how unsatisfied I was with their procedures, to which they never responded but rather started making some fixes, entering my apartment without authorization. The unit never had a heater, nor did it have an A/C unit but they installed the last upon my request, the heater had never been a necessity for me until now, because with the low temperatures we've been having it has became seriously difficult to inhabit the unit, let alone sleep in. I wanna know what are my rights and what can I do. I lost my job 5 months ago and I'm one and a half months behind on rent, they've sent me 3-day rent or quit notices 3 times already, and I just got hired for a new job, and although I wanna leave because of the heater situation, I don't know what is best to do since I don't wanna lose my deposit. Case Detail: I wanna know if I can sue the company that owns the building for the health issues I've been having due to the lack of a heating unit.
