Case Summary:
i have been trying now for three days to find anyone within either cricket wireless or ist parent company :Leap wireless to no avail.

Case Detail:
Cricket wireless claims to be conserned with customer privacy. the claim to be doing this when someone is in need of their call records for whatever reason cricket has began policy to make that customer take paperwork and have customer get it notorized then to return to cricket store with 125 dollars in order to have them send you these records in the mail. if they were so conserned with customer privacy then why for the past two days have i had supervisors within cricket get into my accounts and tell me they will try to find a resolution and call me back. trustingly i accept then wait for the calls that never come. i contact crickket back and they not only tell me that the supervisor lied to me because there was no way for outgoing calls to be made but that i had to be lying because there was no record of anyone being in my account for the last two days. when i questioned their company policy of employees automatically logging in ANYTIME they ever get into account and they agree that that is their policy ,yet i have had half a dozen of their employees in my account that never did this. so because of the complete lack of cooperation i am unable to be able to try to recover any money or phones that had been stolen from my home which of course was the only reason i was trying to get phone records in the first place.

I had my service activated on August 24 2010 as of today September 2 2010 my connection is slower then AOL when it first came out!!! I am on the 40,00 plan which offers 2.5gb ,The rep. told me I had exceeded the gb , I said how is this possible within a 4day period and he gave me a whole lot of BS , EVEN TOLD ME NOT TO USE the internet until my rollover period came which is i 2days.
I was a cricket customer for a long time then I had the service disconnected to try other options ,then I came back to the slowest speeds in the world and I think it is because they have tried to stay competitive by offering more plans ,but they should have stayed loyal to their customers. In conclusion cricket is now on my do not list.

Twice I called to ask if the plan is a flat fee - including taxes, etc. Twice they stated that I would be charged the flat amount of the plan I chose. I had to pay up front for an expensive phone and they stated I would get a $100 rebate in the mail. No rebate and first phone bill is $13 more than my plan. I called them twice and they sent my call overseas to people who can barely speak English. Basically, they told me too bad. I had my number switched from my old provider and they wont give it back! I want a refund and my phone number.

I purchased braodband undervthe false misrepresentation that it was high speed. it runs slowly and sometimes pauses for long periods of time. Also my husbands phone was off since he was hospitalized for a month. I paid $62 on 04/26/10. today is 05/11/10. his phone has been disconnected. when we called the sup told us his billing cycle was from the 9th to the 10th so even tho we paid for a full month, it was for the month of april when he did not have any service nor did he use the phone, we disconnected it. Cricket took our money and only gave us 2 weeks of service

I first came to crooked wireless when hargray was changing over to crooked and I went in with my sister to see what kind of phone they had. Well the phone I wanted was a flip phone with camera features. I like the phone & the 45.oo plan. Well by the 2nd month my bill was nearly $60.00 and I called to find out why & I went by the store. The lady at the store and the guy on the phone couldn't tell me why the bill was high! So i paid my bill in hopes that the following month it would go back down. Well it didn't! It went up. After about 9 months I had had it up to hear with crooked and all of their lies so I had my service turned off. Then they started harassing me by email with all of their great deals and stuff. I even had a rep from crooked call my crooked phone and begged me not to disconnect my service. I asked her were they gonna give me a new phone to keep me at cricket and fix my bill? Well she was stammering and stuttering and if'ing and well'ing so I hung up. I took that as a no. Oh and this was back in 2007-early 2008.

Case Details:
I had a phone that I got as a gift from my mom and she said that she'd buy me a phone and put it in my name if I kept up with the bill. So I went shopping online for a deal and I recall my friend's sister told me about Cricket Wireless and their great deals! So I went & looked online and saw the phone that I wanted then I went with my mom to buy the phone. Well, within the 1st 2 months my phone bill went up. When Icalled customer service and asked them why it went up, they couldn't even tell me why my bill was going up. But the demanded I pay the whole thing without even knowing why the bill was going up. Over the course of 8 months, my bill went from 40 + tax to about 76.00 + tax! Plus the lady who sold me the phone said it was a new phone & not a refurbished one-she lied! It started to fall apart after 3 months of use! The antenna was coming off and the flip phone buttons wouldn't work. The phone wouldn't ring or anything when people called me. The calls got dropped alot-it was a nightmare! So I had them cut off my phone & they tried to stick me with a bill-on a 'no contract' phone plan- of almost $200.00! They said that I owed them back payments because I didn't pay the whole amount during my 8 months of service!

I immediately call 611 to report my dissatifaction with the phone & crap service. I returned to cricket via online customer support agent on 4/5/2010 & spoke again with brandy-was completely horrified that new phone (msmg8) is acting more than other phone-wanted my original phone back. she catches attitude says "well it's been shipped out." so i call the 611 while in the store and talked with tonya coleman instead. she says that when i took the new phone that i was going to have to pay $10 for it anyway and she doesn't know why the 611 ppl keep telling me to come in their store when they cant help me. So i put her on my cell with the supervisor at cricket and she talks to him. She also asks brandy in a nasty tone, meant for me, did she make me all of these promises and of course brandy says no to all the questions-hands me my cell & then ignores me & takes next customer. I go outside so I can hear the manager better on phone & he says I have to buy a new phone in the model I want. I tell him I'm not buying a new phone when my original phone was under warranty and I brought it in under the terms of the return policy! He says he would follow up with me and call me later that after noon and again when I am on my way as of 4/6/10 to the store so we can have a conference with the manager. I heard nothing back from the mananger on the phone & there was no manager on duty at the cricket store on 4/3/10 either! they got me for $100.49 to place an online purchase; $10 for this crappy refurbished phone, $53.50 for the month of march (which was suppose to be free but I have records where they ried to debit my card). I just paid and got their hands out for more money on a phone that didn't work well & all i wanted was the same phone, in replacement of my original, sent to me by mail! But now with all the headache, lies and arguments with ppl outsourced from the U.S.-I want all of my money back and they can keep the cheap phone!

Here is the complaint I just wrote to the FTC and BBB for my recent experience...

Cricket advertises a broadband mobile card that has speeds of 400-700 kb/s. After activation, I received speeds of about 32 kb/s on my laptop, which is basically unusable and no where close to the advertised broadband speeds.

The sales representative at this location told me when I bought the modem and first month of service that there were no returns at all. I tried to return the device in person two days later but the manager was not there so no one knew how to process the return.

I called the next day multiple times and at first received the same knee jerk response that they did not not do refunds. Then they said they would call customer service and try to get the modem working. They called back 1 hour later and asked me if it was working. I told them I hadn't even tried it again, and they quickly told me I could return it today, but it had to be today because they have a 3 day return policy. However, they could not refund the $28 activation fee because Cricket headquarters had no mechanism to return this fee to them and they were already charged for it.

I called Cricket customer service and after a 1/2 hour hold time reached a representative and then escalated it to a manager. The manager refused to refund the $28 activation fee.

Final conclusion, this practice has to be some sort of fraud and against some law. They sold me a device that didn't work as advertised, I had trouble returning it because someone capable of doing the return wasn't on site and initially lied to me and told me they had no return policy even though it was actually 3 days.

The most blatantly fraudulent thing is that they refused to refund a $28 activation fee for a device that never worked anything close to how it was advertised. This has to be against some sort of consumer protection law. Cricket seems to be a large reputable company. I've never had such a ridiculously bad customer experience with what appears to be a large reputable company.

Please stop them from what seems to be a highly illegal practice.
