Case Summary: Under doctor's recommendation, I was admitted for an overnight stay for monitoring under the care of Dr. Amhad Kabakibi, a non-resident physician at Sharp/Grossmont Hospital of Lamesa, CA. I was monitored overnight on 04/10/2009 for high blood glucose level. During the admission I got the jitters and sweats the first night on IV. After pleading for food for forty-five to ninety minutes, a sandwich and dessert was found by one of the night nurses, and I ate that. My next reading showed my blood glucose reading to be abnormally low. Now, with first-hand knowledge of the dangers of low blood sugar, I ask to be released the next day. Although I was originally told by the doctor that I was to be monitored overnight, he now wanted to monitor me for a few more days, but I feared another night like the previous night. I was billed a hefty sum within 60 days of my release from the hospital, approximately one third of which was not covered by my insurance, but the amount was promptly paid. I was then billed for a smaller amount a few months later. After approximately six months, I received yet another bill for a hefty sum. The services rendered were not on the statement of this bill, and I never received a notice from my insurance company to confirm coverage for the billing. Case Detail: I believe that I was neglected under the doctor Kabakibi's care, and that the doctor has shady billing practices that have affected me economicallly and emotionally, and possibly professionally. |
