Case Summary: My 2008 Ford F-350 has issues with the exhaust Filter and it goes into "cleaning exhaust filter" every 50 miles or so. It is not only inconvenient, it is very dangerous. While towing trailers them motor goes into re-gen mode and I lose up to 50% of my power. I have talked with many other 2008/2009 ford F 250,350 and 450 owners and they all have the same issues. I feel that there is a potential safety hazard with then motor going into its re-gen mode, and I feel that the reason for these issues is lack of testing of the motor and pure negligence on Ford's part. When new laws were put into place requiring diesel motors to have a cleaner burn, truck company's were forced to produce a motor quickly and the end result for Ford was the motor that International produced the 6.4 twin turbo diesel. They have updated my trucks computer 3 to 4 times and I get the same results each time.. Nothing. The truck gets 10-13.3 mpg which is far below the 17-20 I was told at the dealership. Case Detail: I feel that Ford motor company put out a very poor product, and used its consumers as test dummies on their new motors, instead of doing their proper due diligence. My hope would be that all owners of the 2008/2009 F250,350 and 450's would be awarded the option of trading up to the new motors coming out in 2011, and/or getting an extreme discount on the new 2011 Ford F series, and/or trading 2008/2009 trucks for new 2011 trucks even trades. I feel that a class action lawsuit should be formed against Ford only to make the owners of the 2008 and 2009 (possible 2010) whole. I spent over $50,000.00 for my truck in 2008 because I was told from my local Ford dealership that my fuel mileage was going to be in the 17-20 MPG on the highway, and 13-15 in the city. The real numbers are 10-13.3 city or highway. Ford does not know how to fix their re-gen issue with the exhaust filter, and they will not fix the issue until 1. they get sued, or 2. people start getting injured, or killed when the trucks enter the re-gen mode. |
