Credits are not transferable. Instructors are not involved in your education. You read the lessons online and take part in a discussion forum-no lectures or lessons from the instructor. One could not even answer my questions about the required size of the files to submit. could have gone to a real school for what this cost me.

First off my exit paperwork states that I owe 39000 for gaining a degree that is useless, and the paperwork I recently received from both companies claims closer to 60,000 principal with none of my grants counted. Though we were shown how to program I know nothing about the basics behind it and that's what interviewers ask. I'm teaching myself this part and not because of the books they gave me but books I bought online and at the library. We had two instructors that worked the field and they were decent until they left for better job opportunities. Their promises for helping you find work in your field is a joke. They never had people looking for someone in my field and if they did they were for programs we were not taught.. I feel like I am a victim of extortion, breach of contract, among other things. If anyone has information on a real class action lawsuit against this institution please email me the details

Got 40k in debt through ITT, during my time there there was only one teacher that even had field experience and they actually ended up letting him go after being there for 20 years because he had military experience and not a Masters degree. I started my class with something close to 38 students in electronics technology, by the time we were done I was 1 of 6 dumb enough to stick around through the entire thing. After spending 4 years in a local technically school I found that ITT's class rooms lacked materials and their teachers lacked knowledge. My Networking class did not even contain one computer. During the initial walk through with a recruiter I was told that first off the school was accredited, which it obviously is not, and second off that once I graduated I would be able to take ANY class in ANY course for free and that's how the cost was justified. This was also not true. Then when I went asking for help finding a job they did in fact place me in a job that had nothing to do with my field, then tried to get me to fill out some paper work that said I used 80% of what I learned at ITT on a daily basis in the job they provided for me, far from the truth. My life has been on hold for 6 years and will be on hold another 4 because of this place.

I honestly feel this schools instructors have the right intention, but the I don't think the administration has the right Idea and I feel some of the practices are unethical. I was almost completed my degree plan with two quarters left to graduate and I was told I owe ITT Tech $6500. in a letter for classes while I am sitting out. It was sent in the form of a collection notice. I had to sit out and they told me that I can't pay for classes out of pocket or any other way. Now I am sitting at home with no phone calls to come back, like they called me daily when they wanted me to start school, but when I did not meet the loan requirements to come back due to financial aid they did not think enough of my education to work a way out for me to come back.

In March of 2008 I enrolled at ITT Tech for the Drafting & Design program as per the agreement before hand that their career department would help find me a job. I graduated in March of 2010 while me & my classmates at the time were told that we should be working in the career field HALF-WAY THROUGH our associates degrees by the same department! I even signed up right after that for my bachelors in Project Management degree with the same promise from the school that they would help me find a job (& laughably that the economy was turning around). I then graduated in March of 2012 but still, 4 years later, there is no job to show for & much of the career department has been laid off! I have student loans that are unable to be repaid & much of the time the lead recruiter I keep in contact for leads hardly picks up the phone, returns her messages or mail! How has their degrees, that they have promised would better my life ACTUALLY bettered my life so far? The degrees I paid for are bloated & worthless to date without someone hiring me for them & giving me a wage great enough to pay off the same student loans! Please, someone help! This is so wrong! The only way I could pay is if the suit in won. I cant even pay these student loans!

I attended ITT- Tech in 2009 for Computer Networking and could not finish because of a personal matter. I ended up owing over 19,000.00 for an education that I only halfway received. I decided that, after falling on hard times and getting laid off from my job, that I would attempt to finish school and I scheduled an appointment to go back to ITT. From then on it became a nightmare. The first day I was made to sign in for new FAFSA paperwork. I didn't have my W-2's for my taxes (because all they care about is money after all), and I had to reschedule to bring them back in. The next day I brought them in and I was made to fill out the FAFSA paperwork, got a confirmation from FAFSA, and was made to sign enrollment papers. From then on I kept being given the runaround about some other paper that I needed to have before I could actually get enrolled. Please keep in mind that the enrollment paper I signed stated that I am now liable for over 44,000. They continued to give me the runaround day after day, telling me that I needed to keep rescheduling until the necessary forms were in. I called the school and spoke with a man who could tell that I was upset about the entire thing and who tried to smooth things over. I told him that despite his explanation, I was no longer interested in attending the school. He told me that he would let his colleagues know. Not less than a week later, I received calls from ITT Tech financial aid dept telling me that my paperwork STILL wasn't in - as if I had never called at all. I finally had to call them and tell them to stop calling and that I was NOT going to attend. This kind of unprofessionalism and shady dealing really needs to be stopped.

ITT Technical Institute misleads its students with its promises of hands on learning and promises for cutting edge knowledge. During the admissions process I asked numerous times if my credits would transfer to other schools and was assured that they would. Now that I have my bachelors degree, I went to enroll at UCF in their masters program only to find out that ITT is not an acceptable school and I would have to restart my program with an "accredited university". They also promised student loans so that I could continue my classes only to then later tell me that the lender backed out and has dropped ITT and that they were unsure as to how they would get loans towards students or as to when a new one would be available. They had even over borrowed against a student loan but that wasn't caught till semesters later.

Unable to get a mortgage due to $6,000 collection being posted. Was in the graphic design program, lost my job, had to stop going to some classes due to having to report as temp just so that i could eat, eventually ending and not finishing the program. In class we were taught how to use the programs by finding tutorials online and doing them. I could have done this for free at my house. Now i have a collection and it's preventing me from trying to pursue the slightest bit of happiness.

As many other students, I attended ITT-Tech from 2006 unil 2010 to attempt to better my life and needed evening classes due to my working day schedule. From the time I enrolled, until the time I left, I was PROMISED by career services I would have abundant help finding career placement, but each time I made an attempt for help, I received nothing. Everytime I would go in career services, there was ALWAS a new employee. The employee turn-over rate is ridiculous. The Dean of the college (At that time) left because "he was sick of all the G-Damn politics and bullshit this institution is all about!" and many of the instructors DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THE CURRICULUM BEING TAUGHT!! The few REAL instructors we had were fired for frivolous reasons and they hired nonchalant instructors to take their places! The textbooks are outdated with typos and never once was ANY help with what I was learning. Everything I learned I taught myself! I asked numerous times for my resume to be edited in hopes of a better job placement, only to get the response "Yeah, it looks fine!" That was all I EVER got. They send out job openings in a copy-and-paste email, WHICH A KINDERGARTENER COULD DO! I went the entire 4 years and ACCUMULATED 90K IN STUDENT LOAN DEBTS!!! I now work DOING THE SAME JOB AS MY SISTER WHO IS ONLY H.S. GRADUATE! I was promised services and never got them! I was also PROMISED before I sign ANYTHING that my credits WOULD transfer, only to be told upon "graduation" that they would not be recognized by any other institution. This company has ROBBED me AND MY FAMILY beyond the point of no recovery! If you paid a merchant money for goods and or services and the did not provide what they promised, THEY COULD BE SUED AND POSSIBLY SHUT DOWN! This is NO DIFFEREN! The textbooks are outdated with typos and never once was ANY help with what I was learning. Everything I learned I taught myself...and I could have done that for free! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! If anyone knows the status on this pending case, please let us ALL know! However, I do not expect to get any responses because it seems no one cares about the poor, working class being continually profitted off of from lies and deceit!

I attended ITT expecting to get an education. To make a long story short I did not receive anything close to an education. Books were a joke; misprinted, misspelled, missing directions, didn't match with the material being instructed nor the computer programs. The instructors didn't or couldn't instruct the classes, they weren't teachers. Constant lack of structure. It was a circus. I'm being told I owe $38,000 plus and am not being told exactly what for, the numbers don't add up or make sense as to where they came from. I asked for an itemized print out of what I'm suppose to owe, they gave me some jumble mess of dates and numbers. They have lied, manipulated and scammed to get money without living up to their end of the deal.

I have been currently paying on half of this loan for my whole life with nothing to show for it. I have reentered ITT because I need that degree, i need something to show for it. I want sallie-mae to discontinue the loan for fraud. I was not taught up to date material. I was lied to. The instructor read out of a book the whole time and never taught us anything in the lab. They hired someone else on to teach us during lab time. I want everything erased, and I want my money back. I do not want this piece of paper. I cannot even get a job with a finished degree from this college. My whole graduating class that graduated in 2007 is NOT EMPLOYED. Please help us. I am currently in my second quarter of the Network Security Administration program. At this point, I've been through 5 classes, and of those 5 classes, 3 instructors state blatantly that the education students at ITT receive is extremely sub-par to even the community college level. The textbooks, published by Pearson Education, are several years out of date, even when claimed they are newly published. Some instructors literally give the answers to "exams" minutes before they are given, and most instructors are too tied up in tending to their own personal business to even teach class. For a $50k+ education, I sincerely feel I'm being ripped off. I could go on, and on, and on, and on, but I speak much more eloquently and with depth than I'm able to convey here.

I will start of my admitting that i have made some mistakes in my life, but I must say this one by far takes the cake! Itt-Technical Institute was by far the worst educational experience I have ever had, the (sales man) treats you as if you have walked in to the car lot promising you everything in the world, but providing very little. I started off with a loan for 2 years worth of school at an astonishing $40,000 but I figured the more you spend on your education the better the education right??...Wrong! Not only was the education very lacking you paid a very large lump some for it as well. I believe that it really doesn't matter how you preformed in class as long as they were receiving money you were going to pass. I am now almost $70,000 dollars in debt with Itt-tech and harassed constantly by them, this is quiet the debt for someone who makes $40,000 a year. As with everyone else on here I was promised a job and ended up getting job offers from Itt-Technical institutes career services that I was not qualified for nor where they even in the same field.

I went to ITT Tech is Greenville SC to further my technical education after the Coast Guard. I was told that credits were transferable and they would help find me a job. When financial aid quit because my debts were to high I could not afford to finish school with only one quarter left to go. That was back in 2003. Now do to loans being to high to pay and going into default my loans have spiraled and they are garnishing my wages. I support a wife and three kids and they are taking 15% of my paycheck to go to a loan that has not improved my qaulity of life or helped me in any way. I have debt but no certifications or credit for my education. I cant go some place cheaper to finish my degree and have no way of paying my debts. I really need a way out of this mess.

I graduated from ITT in 2010 with a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice. I am trying to obtain my masters degree in psychology but I was informed that I will not be able to be a licensed psychologist because my undergraduate degree from ITT did not hold a strong accredited. I was mislead because I was told that I would be able to transfer my credits and move forward with my education and I was never told that the accreditation that ITT held was as career based accreditation and did not hold water.
I have yet to find employment in my field that even comes close the salary that I was told I could make with my degree from ITT. I totally mislead about my degree. I owe thousands of dollars and no way to pay them back. I recently found out that a schoolmates loan were forgiven because he was sick, really are serious now that makes me mad. I am sorry he is got sick but come on he did attend so why doesn't he have to pay like the rest of us, our degrees are crap and we still have to pay. I think anyone that attended ITT should have their loans forgiven and the school should be shut down until it can be managed by the appropriate staff and accreditation.

I was 21 years of age when I decided that I should try out ITT Tech's Drafting and Design program. After all, they are announced on TV and sound like a great school. I was very confused. First thing is first, the recruiter told me all about how her boyfriend worked in a drafting type job and how they would help out students with work, the only catch "as she put it" was that we'd be making so much money that they didn't want us to get distracted from our studies. Sounds awesome, but it was a lie. I signed up and approached her about a job with her boyfriend's company because I took her up on her offer. She kindly stated that because of the economy, they were not hiring. The deal I made with my dad when signing up for school was that I would do good and that he would pay for all of it. Now I'm getting blown up on my phone, email, and soon work for wage garnishments. I left school to get work and I learned that I could do well in life with the job I got. I am doing well, but now my credit is crap even though I am making a good amount of money for the regular 25 year old and I am very on top of my bills and payments. I am being held back from financial freedom due to lies and misinformation provided by the very good sales people at ITT Tech. Just to throw in a bit more detail into my experience, some but not all the teachers were very unprofessional! Id have a teacher talking about having sexual relationships with students, and those were also the folks with passing grades. They would continuously ask for additional tutoring and I could not get the extra help by staff, they always suggested to get help from my classmates. There was also a time when we were overstaffed and we had over 50 students in one class room that was made up of Criminal Justice, Nursing, and Drafting students. ALL BEING TAUGHT AT THE SAME TIME!!! Im a real believer in hard work and getting an education, but the experiences at ITT Tech have made me second guess our educational systems.

I went one year to ITT in Nashville. Estimated tuition costs were $18,000. I went for 3 quarters and have 7 different student loans taken out against me in the sum of $35,500. My wife went to another school in the same city, for the same degree and finished her 4yr degree only owing $45,000. Something is seriously wrong here. I wanted to transfer to a better school that might actually teach me something but nothing transfers. It is like I bought a new SUV and drove it into the river. I have nothing useful to show for this debt I can not pay. It wouldn't be so bad if it was the amount of debt I agreed to. This school is pocketing the extra funds. When are they going to be put out of business?

1.) I was told my credits would transfer 2.) I went for Drafting and Design I specifically stated I wanted to be part of designing vehicles parts and accesories his response was " Oh yes you would be able to do that with this degree you could design anything" I have my mother to prove this by the time I realized this school was a joke I was a few months away from graduating WHY QUIT now was my mentality 3.) They breifly taught us AutoCAD and inventor (Catia, solid works and other programs are the preferred programs from employers) So they basically took the easy way out. 4.) Physics teacher didnt know what he was talking about let alone write! So he passed everyone with a B!!!!! 5.) More than half the classes I took through a semester we went through at least 2-3 different teachers PER CLASS 6.) They will not give me my transcripts! 7.) Somehow I owe more than 50+ thousand and others in my class owe 10-20 thousans LESS? (Same loans) 8.) Always changed grades so we'd pass the class or tests This school was the biggest waste of time IVE EVER experienced. I am in so much debt because of this and I just keep thinking how am I going to get out of this I was told I would get help finding a job NOPE that didnt happen no matter how many times I called. My degree is nothing to employers its said to be accredited but the last employer I talked with for a job said he almost didnt even call me BECAUSE of my degree from ITT he has went into the school to recruit new employees and they didnt even know how to open the AutoCAD program let alone know how to do work on it and that was in the LAST SEMESTER! So that could be a factor why I have not found a job who knows what the other employers are thinking! Just rediculous I could have spent 2-4 years on a degree at a community college and had a better experience and less debt. By the way Im sure I could have everyone I knew at that school be part of this plus some

Like the masses, I too was told when I first applied for a grant, and was denied, that loans were the way to go. I trusted my enrollment advisor or whatever they're called, and started the loan process. I was lied to like everyone else. They told me that when I graduated, I would be placed in a high paying position in my field and that I would have no problem paying back the loans. I was excited to start my college career! As the first few quarters progressed I started to notice that the class material was subpar to say the least. We switched textbooks to a new version that ITT had produced themselves. They were absolutely horrible. Parts of chapters were commonly missing or made no sense at all. It was bad. I too looked into transferring to a community college and they told me that they wouldn't take any credits from ITT. I was already one year in at this time, and my son was just born. I had to stay the course because they kept telling me that a great job awaited me once I graduated. I got my associates degree and ITT found me a job making $7.50 per hour. I continued on to recieve my bachelors degree because again I trusted my school to be honest with me. ITT once again placed me in a job in my field, but inside sales making $31K per year. Not exactly a dream job that they told that I would get. I now have over $125,000 in student debt. For that amount I could have attended an Ivy League school! I now have 2 worthless degrees that I cant pay for. My family and I need help. 530-513-2466

Since Ive Graduated I have had a tough time holding a good paying job. My first job was for a Point Of Sales company. This company was actually sued by employees that were graduates from ITT. The company will make you work Day and night Monday - Sunday. Look it up and the company is Called Spartan Computer Systems. Well I have been in debt from 2000 and it has been 12 years and I still dont know who I have to pay my loans to. Every time I do taxes I never get a return. 2 years ago I was supost to receive about 8,000 dollars return and never did. I have tried getting this fixed and Im so much in debt that I just dont know what to do. I have 2 kids and Im unemployed at the moment. Every time I try to apply for a job they wont hire me because of my degree. Some employers said to try and get a Computer science Degree from a Junior Collage. I tried doing that as well but its going to cost me an arm and a leg to do that. Im am 33 years old and I just dont know what else to do. I feel what every one is saying here. I have a good friend that graduated from ITT and his a Police Officer. Told me he rather do that because he was also having a hard time getting a job. Also the Jobs that ITT get for you are at the 9 dollars an hour range. I rather work for Stater brothers market the starting pay is 12.

They lied to me in the beginning verbally and they think they can get away by creating fine print contracts to shield their criminal acts and hurt people financially but we need to unite and do something about this, I was lied to, this school has caused me a $112,000 debt, 3 years of being homeless, and living on food stamps, is that what leaving college is all about? We need justice, we need to take every penny they made and shut them down permanently. I complained to the director that an instructor was giving out easy A+'s and that I want a quality education and they did nothing about it... they in fact gave the instructor "Instructor of the year, of the mid west district" award, I was shocked, that put the icing on the cake, they are ruthless and they will put any new comer in a debt that they most likely will be left with, without efficient career service people, they get paid off your money and don't find you a job and when they do, it's all $9.50 an hour and it's 20 miles away, something inconvenient in that nature and not in the actual field of your choice, just to insult you, they don't care to make you learn anything, they courses have obviously dumb written objectives that purposely dumb you down and not help you become enlightened, it is a complete scam and my life is ruined because of itt tech.

My complaint is that I went to ITT and the only problem I had was that of losey slackers that attended my classes and expected that the instructors or their fellow class mates were required to do their homework and lab work. I can’t count the endless times that I was paired with a group of worthlessness. Eventually a group of class mates and I seemed to notice this trend of low life scumbags that pray on those who do the reading and attend EVERY class, and simply grouped together and some times there would six of us and when the instructor asked one or two of use to join another group and we asked not to, they TOTALLY UNDERSTOOD WHY!!! My whole argument is, yes all these stories I have already heard, but the only ones complaining are those who choose not to do their work until it was too late, guess what! NO ONE IS SORRY FOR YOU!!!!! Seriously grow up and take responsibility for your actions. Yes ITT is not the greatest school, but if you commit yourself to your program, study, and understand that your field of expertise is huge and to concentrate on a profession you want to obtain after graduation you can do it. If anyone wants to give me a call and tell me their story I will gladly be here to figure out where you went wrong.. dont bother calling if you cant simply tell me how to change your IP address, because I am on my last semester and in my capstone class... there seriously is someone who doesnt know how to do so... and yes they are in my group.. SMH! Thank you 414-207-2244

I have been going to ITT for over a year now. I have been struggling to find any classes that my teachers have a handle on. Most of them work some where else out side of the school and ITT is just a way for extra cash. Many times it is just reading out of the book, or the same lab that we saw our friends do a week ahead of time. There are kids in my class who teach more during the class time than the "Professors" do.
This is my education and I didn't really want to spend thousands of dollars for nothing. I feel like the teachers at the schools do not care. They are there for a check and to go home. I paid for school that I can't transfer credits from, I can't get a degree for a good job with. I can't even apply for any other school because ITT TOOK ALL MY LOAN MONEY! I have applied for other schools but can't get financial aid to go because ITT. I really need help.

itt in CA. said their job placement program would cover the stress of paying for the entire education with loans. then signed me up for federal and private loans which are always going to be seprate payments so when they can not find new or returning students jobs like they say in the commercials or their office at loan sign up time... there is no protection or any other ability to reduce payments that allow for food , rent, and debt, publicly or privatly. teachers were busy with other projects of their own, reading from the book was our class time while one teacher completed her college class projects and then maby talked about it at the end if it kind of pertained to our course. one teacher admited that he was training his competition (students) and only would teach limited skills. one teacher had only physical education experiance only and was teaching 3rd semester math, horribly and could only recite the book. i then asked an itt tutor for help and was met with frustration when they had to basicly teach me. one other student in my class was also screwed out of honors positions at graduation time for another student who had some kind of deal or put in extra time at that school and had to graduate at the same time, not sure of entire story with that. i was also talked into a basic degree to be able to "make it easy" to get my " 2nd degree " when i saw the nightmare that was made from just the simple 2 year program laughed and said no when they wanted me back for 2 more years. and then all help stopped from their job placement "program" and the job they had found me was harrassing me mentally and physically, in-directly, to make quit after i signed some form that released me from itt responsibility, while stating i had some kind of security at that present job position. but then the harrassment started soon after. and by that time the entire industry had collapsed with the economy about 3-4 years ago and i still keep seeing the same commercials with " job placement " apply now !! please end this trend with education systems charging tons of money for worthless results.

Graduated in 1998 from ITT in San Antonio, Texas and since I graduated I have been having difficulty finding a career with a degree from ITT. Just like everyone here I had the same type of issues with it. From financial problems to teachers not having knowledge to teach, classes that were suppose to require but not available and not knowing if it would ever be available. To top it off I cant even find a job in that degree and if you do they dont pay no more than $8 an hour and no need for your degree, just experience. Plus I'm still paying for a worthless degree. Sallie Mae still keeps bothering me even when I'm a few days late and wants my income tax.
So therefore is there anything we can do?

i went to itt tech in tampa. i was told i would get all the programs needed and it was 100% job placement. when i got to the GUI class they diddnt have the proper programs need to teach the class, so we just sat there decusing games instead of learning one of the most important aspects of game design, the menu screens. we all got A's but learned nothing. we also finishe 4 years of school but werent allowed a assosiats in multimedia degree for the first 2 years, every other itt offers this. when i finally graduated and turned in my resume they lost it...infact, they lost my resume 5 times after this. finally they sai they found me a job in my area....for burger king! that was the last time i was up there...still havnt found a job in my field. and my student loans are piling up as i type.

Case Details:
I would love to go into full detail, but its a bit long winded.
Long story short. I went to enroll in ITT. They had a game design program years before i went and it was still in the catalogue.
The enrollment lady told me i had to take an associates degree as a prerequisite. I didn't like hearing that news but she said that was necessary. So I enrolled for multimedia design. The school wasn't terrible, but i learned pretty much everything they taught me on Google months prior. After dealing with an English teacher who was accusing me of plagiarism...(which i found insulting considering when I choose to write good, English is my stronger subject.) I decided to check on the progress of game design as motivation.. seems they changed program leaders, the program wasnt active because not enough kids enrolled, and they had no idea when it would be up..or even IF it would be up. I took it all the way to the head of ITT Denver North and told him the situation.. he told me that there is no way the enrollment lady could have told me it was a prerequisite for game design. So i told her lets get her since he was calling me a liar...to which he responded with "well she no longer works here anymore"
Well isnt that convenient. I asked for solutions and resolutions to this issue and he offered none. At this point i felt cheated and lied to and that i was spinning my wheels.. so i left and tried to take my credits to westwood college (which was also a scam)
Now as a result i have 67,000+ in student loan debts that have wrecking balled my credit, made it hard to survive, get an apartment, get a tax return, or even get a decent job without being scrutinized.
I have recently started making attempts to pay them with what tiny income i have (sub 9,000$ a year) but unless i pay $700 a month between private and federal loans, i'll always be stuck in a hole and never get a chance to live.
This has happened to many other students as well. It has been the single most crippling event in my life that i cannot bounce back from despite my efforts!
I can only pray some attorney or lawyer has the power to at least absolve my student loans. I would rather owe him than this scam artist school.

when i enrolled the entrence exam was designed so a third grader could pass it. however the course work was horendous. there was very litttle mention of the repayment of loans only that i would be making big money and would have no problem paying back the loans. they handled all the paperwork and simply said sign here and well handle everything for you. i dont even know who they borrowed money from on my befalf. but the collections agency wants $700 a month and that would put me and my three kids out on the street. it's so depressing i'm now on antidepressents and even that doesent stave off all the bad thoughts that my lifeinsurance would give my kids a better life than i can once they garnish my wages.

I applied for ITT Online in 2009 was told my credits where transferable. I finished my Associate's Degree in information systems administration, I now have been told by many other school they will not accept my credits, and I must start over I owe over 20k in student loans, and have been told by companies they wont accepted my degree, so I can't even get a job in my field, basically this school was a waist of time and only put me into debt. I am wanting to take legal action against the school to get rid of my debt, sense the credits I got from them are basically useless.

My son received his Associates Degree in Multi Media in 2010. Before starting we sat down with a financial advisor and went over in detail how this was going to work. She told us that my son would have no problem paying back the student loans because the interest rates for these types of loans were very low. We were comfortable with that and so he started classes. It wasn't until after graduating that we found out his student loan payments were well over $600 a month at 9.95% Then come to find out all these loans are private loans so he could not defer or consolidate any of them. A two year degree has cost him $75,000. My son will be in debt for the rest of his life due to the lies we were told. Yes they did get him a job, it's part time, making $11.00 an hour. He will never beable to move out on his own. I want ITT Tech to be held accountable.

I pursued an Associate's Degree in Web development with being told that before you even achieved your degree in the 6th quarter of attending classes they would assist with finding a job IN THE CAREER FIELD. When I got to quarter 6 (out of 8) their career counselors said that without any career experience or a Bachelor's degree that they could not help get a job in the career field. Most of the job help they were willing to help with was with jobs you could get without going to college. I also have 30-40k of debt that I am in no way able to pay due to their lies and deceit. Anyone in my classes I remained in contact with got a job in Web Development either. Awful experience.

I was looking for a quality education to become an RN. The RN program is new to the Norwood, Ohio campus. When I interviewed with them they said they were fully accredited for this program and had already passed a class or two. In fact, the first class had two people left and they had not graduated yet. ITT Tech is not an accredited school for the RN associate degree program in the State of Ohio. I have incurred at least $14,000 in PERSONAL debt to them on top of my Federal and Stafford loans. I would be more than happy to join a class action lawsuit AGAINST ITT Tech for their lies, deceipt, false advertising, a new head of the RN who is bound and determined to run off EVERYONE who is admitted into this program. It certainly worked in running me off! They are combining HOURS of classroom and lab into 3.5 hours and 1.5 hours a semester respectively. How is one supposed to become a true RN with such little instruction? The first two who remain from the first class are already LPNs so they already had a solid base, but what about those of us who do not have that base? We ARE screwed. Needless to say, ITT needs to be stopped!!!! I "paid" around $200 for a calculator that costs $9.99 at Target. I was put into a college math class that would have no bearing upon being an RN. If there IS truly a class action suit against ITT Tech for the false advertising, the lies, and the over priced, faulty to no educational value of the RN program, or any of their programs, count me in!

I attended ITT tech here in Green Bay, Wisconsin for 4 years with a two year gap between my two degrees. They failed to help me in any way to find employment after my first two years, and instead tried to take credit for the job I had which I obtained my senior year of high school. While I attended for my first degree I felt the education was severely lacking in that the most I was shown in any computer program was the basics if that. I was shocked to find that after I graduated that I owed nearly 45 thousand in student loans. Some would ask why I returned if that was the case well I was already half way into my 4 year degree, and I didn't know the true reputation the school actually had with former graduates and employers. So I returned for the rest of my bachelors degree in Video game design. I was stunned to see that classes we were scheduled to have like "physics of animation" for example wasn't even what we were taught after getting into the class room. This happened several times in different classes as the degree progressed. In the end I'm stuck with nearly 80 grand in debt, loan payments that I can barely pay, the same job which I obtained while I was in high school, education that I for the most part had to teach myself outside of school, and a career services department that has yet to contact me since I graduated. I feel that this school is a fraud, and a out right thief disguised as a lawful business. The president made good strides in reducing interest rates for student loans, but he needs to focus on laws that make schools like this illegal. My reality at the moment is facing insurmountable debt, and two degrees that aren't worth the paper they were printed on because employers will not higher ITT graduates. Since this school is for profit what they do in order to make their business and stock prices look spectacular they drop anyone who misses multiple classes, or they make it nearly impossible for anyone who does fall behind to catch up so they drop out which ends up not counting towards their pass rating.

I would like to help, and be a part of this because not one person deserves to have their dreams destroyed through greed and malicious intent. I have been keeping a journal/log book of everything that has gone on since I have attended this school. I am currently still enrolled here, and am praying it stays that way. When I enrolled, they told me my credits would transfer to a University, that they were an accredited nursing school, and that a C average was all that was needed to pass the class. I am in my 4th quarter now. In my second quarter, they informed us that we had to have a B in the class in order to pass and that transcripts from other schools would no longer be accepted if the final grade was below a B; we have had our books delivered to us "late" EVERY quarter I have attended; we went for more than half a quarter without an instructor and even had our class canceled on us without notice; they have taken away our test reviews for exams, as well as the discarding of any questions on the exam a majority of the class did not answer correctly (grading on a curve). We have been given an instructor that either doesn't know anything about this class, or refuses to teach us about it (under the assumption that we don't read our books).
Again, I have been keeping a journal/log of everything, and each entry has a date attached. Let me know what I can do to help

I graduated high school in 2003 the High School I attended never encuraged college. I new that once I graduated I wanted to attend College but didnt know where to start where to go sign up. My parents would tell me go to college but couldnt provide me with any information either as I was the 1st one to graduate high school and wanting to go to college. I received a call from ITT-Tech one day and they gave me an appointment to meet with them. I told them that I liked business administration or human services but that I wasn't sure wich carreer path to take. They told me to sign up for the Bussiness program that jobs were always on demand and that if i didn't like the program I can always transfer and change majors. I told them at that time that I wanted to tranfer to Cal State San Bernardino eventually and I was told that I can get my BA from them and then transfer to a 4 year university of my choice that credits were transferable. After attending school for 2 years I decided to drop off because I was acquiring a huge debt in loans and I didnt like the class curriculum. The teachers werent helpful they would sit their and talk about their life stories, would give us open book test and long period of lunches and breaks. I felt I wasnt receiving the education I was paying for. I decided in 2006 to go to the community college and receive information, met with a counselor from the community college and I told them I had done my prerequisites as ITT that's when I found out my credits weren't transferable. I have over 50K in private student loan with variable intrest at 11% called Sallie Mae to see if I can get a loan consolidation and was told NO I can't do that. My monthly payment is $1600+ monthly. I have a mortgage payment, 2 children and my husband and I cant afford It. I feel so depressed and stressed out, im startig to go bald my husband says not to worry that everything will be ok but I know it wont. It will only get worse as originally my student loan was only $30K and I have acquired 20K in interest. I have been doing research to see if I can file bankrupt but I guess is really hard to file chapter 13 to get the loans discharged and costly around 10K. I cant do this anymore I literally have thought of killing myself just to relief my family of this huge debt. I talked to my husband about this and all he says is not to worry tha there's people out there that owe way more money and honestly this is not helpful at all. I work 9 hours a day and I cant do this anymore. I look at myself in the mirror everymorning and see myself loosing more hair everyday. All I wanted was to make my parents proud and see that I was going to attend colleg to better myself and help them out. I had to drop out of my community college when my husband lost his job in order to look for a job and help him out. I dont know what to do.. Im just tired, depressed and stressed out because of ITT-TECH, this school has ruined my life and they dont even care. There's more I would like to write but I cant even type from the tears.

I should have trusted my instincts on this one and now I could be facing thousands of dollars worth of invaluable classes. He brought in his daughter and he met mine and it was personal. I don't know. how do you honestly sleep at night delving into the such low depths of social manipulation to make a "sale". I took a class back in 2010 and passed it with a 97. I took a six month break in 2011 for family reasons and came back in Dec 2011. I was told I had to retake the class because they added some new material to it. At the time I signed up I was never told I had to pay for this class. Last month when i passed the class with an A I realized it was the same exact class with nothing really added. I sent an email to the Director and Dean demanding a refund because I was being charged double for the same exact curriculam. The midterm and final were the exact same as it was when I last took the class. The only thing I got out of it was a 1/2 credit. They do not want to give me a credit because I learned nothing new because it was the same class. I feel lied to and was not taught anything what they call new info in the class. I dont trust ITT and I dont want to even keep going to ITT because of bad business practice and they ruined it for me as far as trusting someone. I am wanting to finish the current class I am in and go to a state college. Also in order to keep my financial aid I need to be enrolled in 2 or more classes and they only enrolled me in one. Thus I cannot get financial aid because of there fault. When I enrolled my recruiter told me that classes are available to fit my needs. The staff told me I couldnt get anymore classes because the ones i need to take are not being given this quarter. I feel this is a breach of contract may it be verbally or on paper. I am fet up with ITT and by the time i graduate if i even stay i will owe close to over $60k for a two year associates. That no including interest. I feel lied to and being let on by the school. The lady that taught the two classes even got fired last week for an unknown reason. I need help and I want to sue ITT so they will not make another student feel or be depressed over the situation I have been put in.

When I first signed up, I was asked if I wanted Day or Evening classes. Because of my work schedule, I asked for day classes. About 1/4 into it, they began scheduling me on evening classes. I spoke with the representative and was told that the classes were not available for days, only on evenings. They ended up finding a fit in some other classes for the degree and i continued on. Same thing happened about 1/2 way in, and with the same results of being put on day classes again. The real problem began when I was approaching the final 2 quarters of my degree. They pulled the same stunt, but this time would not fix it. I had 6 classes until graduation, and all they could say was "that's tough; you'll have to get another job". I was making good money, and leaving wasn't an option so I worked with my employer to get off work at 8 so i could make the 2nd half of class. 3 more classes shouldn't be a problem... wrong, last quarter they tell me that they do not have classes for me on evenings and that they don't foresee them becoming available any time soon. They offered to let me change programs and i would only have to go another 3 quarters to graduate. Rightfully pissed off i told them to go shove it. I took off and tried to apply at a local community college to complete my course work, but with no luck. ITT doesn't transfer to any state agency. I stuck it out at the community college for 2 quarters until I was finally promoted to day shift, and could take my last 3 classes. When i went back to ITT, they told me that programming classes were changed, and only open for day time classes. WTF!!! I ended up switching to another degree program only to be told 2 quarters later the classes are open for evenings. I was going to finish my new degree plan (2 quarters left) and then switch over and get double associates. And of course they programming classes have now been changed, and new curricula released. My credits won't transfer over. All in all for the money they should be willing to work around my schedule as advertised. When students pay 3000 per class and instructors only make 1500 they still make money even if it's just me.

I never thought that they actually would go ahead and process loans for me to start school. Now it’s July 2012 and I just recently learned I have loans out via Sallie Mae, only reason was I was checking my credit and saw that I had outstanding loans. ITT completely back stabbed me in this one; I need help in fighting this loan and how to resolve this issue. For veterans don't trust ITT what they say or do up front!!

I was told through ITT Tech that they have a 98% employment rate. I was enrolled int the computer engineering program at ITT Tech and every semester I had either honors or highest honors. I graduated with an associates degree with highest honors. There were people in my class who graduated with honors who could not even wire a circuit. They put you through the system and take your money around $40000 worth. Every time I think about ITT I get sick to my stomach because something you are supposed to take pride in your degree. I feel it is just a reminder of how I was scammed.

In 2002, ITT was among the first Graphic and Multimedia school in the Green Bay, WI area. Me and my friends quickly sign up wanting to better our lives and get an education.
After graduation in 2004, none of the class found jobs. Of the 6 friends that graduated from the Green Bay, WI ITT Tech school, all had large amounts of debts under private student loans.
I still do not have a job, the school does not help in getting me any internship nor job after school.
Sallie Mae soon called to get their money paid with interest. They told me the loans were all signature loans which means they are private loans. I could not consolidate nor get a fixed interest rate. My interest rate is variable from 11 % and higher. I am paying over $700 per month now for a $60K 2 year degree loan.
Pleaese help me get my life back on track and not pay for a false degree and ever increasing student loan.

In 2007 I was told by ITT financial aid my interest rate was 6.8%. Thew promissory note stated my interest was prime plus 2 to 8. 6.8 fix that description so I signed the paper. In 2008 I found out that the interest rate was 15.24%. ITT told me they have nothing to do with the loans and that I had to talk to Sallie Mae. After 2 years of arguing with Sallie Mae. Their decision is that no one from Sallie Mae told me that my interest rate was 6.8 and I must have misunderstood what ITT told me. If I was told 6.8 then it was from ITT not them. I have told both institution on multiple occasions to return the loan and that I never accepted that interest. Neither will comply and I am not stuck with a loan I can not afford.

i went to ITT in fall of 09. I was told that i would have to take out a private loan since my student loans wouldn't pay for it all. come to find out that I never needed the loan due to me only being there for a quarter (13 weeks) and a half before leaving. Now what i don't get is why I owe them money when financial aid should have paid for it and two they put me down as a part time student even though i was going full time. They also did this to my brother. Now they say I owe said amount of money and I feel that I don't owe a dime. They kept trying to take funds out of my aid after I had told them to stop.

I started ITT Tech in the fall of 2006 and graduated and the summer of 2009. I have yet to find a job in my field. I've applied to over 300 + jobs. Career services don't do anything for me and continues to say send me an updated resume. I mean how many do you need. Can't get no more updated then what it is if I'm not working! Get this..I've applied to a position that was open at the new West Palm Beach location. If you go on my profile where it shows job submittal, it will still say Sept 2011 still processing. No phone calls, no email no correspondence what so ever. The sad thing about it is that the chairman over CNS in the Fort Lauderdale location, where he was twice my instructor is now the director at the West Palm Beach office and I got no response from him as well. I guess I'm not qualified enough to work for ITT but I'm qualified to get in debt by ITT. I'm now trying to get my loan canceled and I do have a snap shot of my job submittal to ITT. Now I have Sally Mae down my back calling my family members trying to get my loan paid.

I am filing a complaint on my behalf for invasion of privacy and harassment. My brother was notified me that your company has called him at least half dozen times. My brother notified me, the loan holder, and told me it was in regards to a collection agency or business matter. This is against the law to notify someone that is not the one that signed the loan. Prior to my current job I've been unemployed for three years and received calls 6+ times a day and some after 9pm at night. At times the reps would be ruthless telling me you’ll get your wages garnished, affect your credit history, possibly stop me from getting job that handles money, and ask me to get money from relatives or friends. This is illegal and against the law.
Now six years have gone by since I graduated and I still have not found work in the field I went to school for so therefore I'm eligible for cancelation of the loan according to the Ed.gov website (http://www2.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/DCS/loan.cancellation.discharge.html) it states, "The school you attended improperly certified your ability to benefit from the training given". That indeed is true otherwise I would be working a higher paying job, not a minimum wage job at a gas station working 30-35 hours a week.
Now my wages are garnished without notification for nearly four weeks and it created a serious hardship for me. My wages cannot be garnished unless I'm properly served by receiving a Summons in court, which I wasn't. Then I do not gross more than $371.25 weekly therefore my wages cannot be garnished and are protected according to the Illinois law websites: (http://www.illinoislegalaid.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.dsp_Content&contentID=3152) and (http://www.illinoislegalaid.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.dsp_Content&contentID=6796)
Lastly, now I've asked for the original document I signed for because it just doesn't add up right, why can't you produce it? The loan I signed for was less than $8500 dollars so how can it get to $17,444.69 in the matter of 6 years? That’s not possible.
This has caused me much hardship such as: losing sleep, depression, aggravation, stopping me from making an honest living, and moving ahead of my life. My health and well-being is more important because I’m in the need of dental work, eye glasses, and regular checkups, which I cannot afford due to my wages being garnished. I cannot make any payments at this time while I try to get my life together.

I recently attended ITT Tech and it was a total scam! I went for about 3 quarters and ended up quitting because I wasnt learning a thing. Most of the teachers did not know how to teach, people were just being pushed through and given straight A"s. I was in a DC electronics class and everyone had failed a test, instead of going over it everyone was given extra points so everyone passed and we moved on to the next chapter not understanding the chapter before it. Every class was the same. It's a total rip off. Now I owe the school about $4,000 and Sallie Mae about $15,000 and I have absolutely nothing to show for it. I get phone calls every day harrassing me for the money and threatening to garnish wages. They tell me to get money from my parents or use a credit card to pay them off. I have tried resolving the issue with the school and they wont work with you at all. They told me that I should have stayed and finished and that I can only get out of the experience what I put into it. Total BS! Ireally cannot believe the scam and fraud that they are getting away with... Every time I see a commercial on tv for itt tech it makes me sick to my stomach. I Wish I could have my own commercial warning everyone not to attend ITT Tech...

Case Details:
I graduated from ITT Tech, King of Prussia, PA with honors in Graphic Arts/ Multi Media. During the two years I was there, I was told that I was approved for Federal student loans on my own, at a low interest rate. I went in to sign to the financial aid office each quarter to sign to disburse money to the school. Well eventually, due to not having enough credit on my own, they put me into Sallie Mae private student loans, which I was unaware of until I got out and had to start to pay 6 months later. I ended up with payments over $800. per month, which there was no way I could afford. If only they'd let me know, I could have gotten my parent's help with a lot lower interest rate. My private student loans, are at 14%,15% and 16% interest which is adding up very fast. I owe them $63,000. plus $10,000. in federal student loans for a worthless piece of paper. I got a job through the school, only because the school was a neighbor, so the school takes credit for that, even though the job I got didn't use any of the education that I gor through the school. During my stay there, teachers left in the middle of programs and they had to find other teachers, some teachers barely spoke English and were just there and didn't know anything about the program, we were basically teaching ourselves. Other teachers would give you something to do and then dissapear until class was ready to end. Some teachers would be on there cell phones through out the class. I had 3 teachers for a math class. The admissions counselors and the finance dept., I found out later were paid kick backs from ITT Tech and possibly Sallie Mae to get as many students enrolled as possible and to get them into private student loans. It didn't matter what your education level was or your ability to pay, they were just looking to make money on you on your end. My second year right at enrollment time, my financial aid person quit. I didn't even know whether I'd be able to have my paperwork submitted on time to get aid for my second year of my course because the financial aid dept. was a mess. Finally at the last minute, they got the paperwork through. Since I graduated the program, I went back to the school to complain about the private student loans and the program it's self. I was told that I signed the private student loan paperwork and that was that. I was so used to signing to disburse money for each quarter that when they slipped this private student loan stuff to me to sign, I just automatically signed it. They had a responsibility to explain to me about the private student loans before I signed up for them and they never did. Also, I applyed for a job in my field and was told that even though I had graduated with honors from my program, that I was missing two complete programs from my education. They said that they hired a student from the Mechanicsburg Campus of ITT Tech and that they knew those programs. A student from my class who stayed on another year said that after I graduated, that they replaced the original new computers with other new more appropriate computers for the program. They also rewrote the program. Yes, that's right, ITT Tech writes there own programs which are cmpletely subpar to the programs that they'd teach you at a community college. They promised me that my credits would transfer towards a bachelor's degree and they were full of it, because the school wasn't properly accredited. I am in debt to this school for $73,000. for a two year degree which is a worthless piece of paper. I went into the class with a lot of knowledge and didn't learn very much more than I all ready knew. The good old admissions counselor told me that even though I had a lot of knowledge in the field that, I wouldn't get a job without a degree. Heck, I still can't get a job with that worthless degree. Since then, I've switched my major and got a bachelor's degree in accounting from a great school and am going on for my master's in finance. I do not mind having to pay for these student loans, as they will actually give me a decent career. However, I will have to remain living at home with my parents because of these awful loans from ITT Tech and I'm all ready 29 years old. I all ready spoke with an attorney in Montgomery County, PA where the school is located and he knew people who worked there either past or present who verified wht I said, but who were not willing to step forward for fear of repercussions. I was told by the attorney that, what they did to me was predatory lending and was a definite claim for a lawsuit, but I needed somebody to back me up. ITT Tech has been investigated and sued before to no avail. The gov't won't touch them because they are huge and are traded on the New York Stock Exchange; I'm sure they are prime contributors to political campaigns also and they sure don't want that to stop.

I only went to Itt-Tech for 3 and 1/2 quarters when I had to urgently leave school for 5 months. Then I tried to finish my degree at another school. I then found out every college I talked to said I could not transfer those credits from Itt. Therefore I tried to go to another Itt and found I owed 4600 for classes that I had to drop. Then they talked me into doing online classes so I could work while I finished my degree. I could not even get the on-line instructor to answer a question. Therefore I have 17000 in dept and no college credits for all my effort.

I have over 50,000 in loans because i went to ITT 2002-2004. When i went to check out the school the recruiter actually told me that with my associate of applied science degree i could continue on and get my bachelors. What she failed to mention was it's only transferable to ITT. No other institutions will accept ITT credits.
I asked specifically if the credits were transferrable and she lied and told me yes. Now i am back in college because I had to start all over on an associates degree. Sallie mae is threatening to take my dads 401k and retirement if I don't pay because he is a co-signer. So now I am stuck with a pile of debt, no job, a useless piece of paper for my 2 years of hard work, and now having to do the work over at a "real" college. I think ITT should have to pay sallie mae, not me. I paid for an education that should have resulted in my ability to further my education, instead it has set me back many years.

I went to ITT Tech. and graduated with a Bachelor of APPLIED SCIENCE degree of Electronics Engineering Technology. There is a difference between Bachelor of APPLIED SCIENCE and Bachelor SCIENCE. So To all ITT students/former students, keep this in mind; ITT is approved by the Department of Education and Reagience (explains the Bachelor of applied science) where as a Bachelor Science is approved by the Acreddited Board of Engineering Techology (ABET). ITT doesnt tell you this and alot of other things when you inroll. It is a ripoff and you will not get a job equal to the job surveys they post which are relating to ABET degrees not ITT degrees. BIG difference! That is why the majority will not get the job they want with the money that should be offered. One word sums it up; FRUAD! and lies, sham..
I struggled over the years trying to get that job with pay and submitted about 500-700 resume's, and majority of jobs I held were contract jobs (temp agencies). What few feedback I got from some of these companies were saying "we are looking for a degree that is approved by the Accredited Board of Engineering Technology (ABET)"..
I owe about 75,000 dollars worth of loans because I basically been getting a little bit more than minimum wage; enough to get food, gas, pay bills and thats it..... I like others want a refund In FULL before my loans go to collections. I already am going roud and round with private loans. I had a credit score when I finished school with about 700. Now it is where I can hardly get a loan and denied in most cases.. Pretty sad. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!!!

Upwards of $56,000+ for a BS in electronic communications and engineering technologies and can't find work. I am finding that fewer and fewer companies are hiring from ITT because they are only nationally acredited and not regionally. I am 48 going on 49 years old and I am living in my mother's house because I can't find work. I can't even go to a regionally acredited school and get further education without starting over because nothing from ITT transfers. I feel I have been rippied off not to mention the 4.5 years I put in of my life that I'll never get back. I also find that regionally acredited schools are even cheaper per credit hour than what I will owe starting in March. If they will at the least whipe my debt I can start over at a real university!

I transferred in the company to a machine operator, then left for another comapny as a machine operator.. but i still have the debt. I graduated in 1994, and still never used the degree. I graduated from ITT Tech in Louisville,KY in Novembler of 2006. In the beginning I was promised that I would have all the help in finding a job in my field of study once I graduate. Here it has been almost 6 years after getting my Associate Degree in Multimedia and I am still not working in my field of study. The only thing I have to show for my studies at ITT is $60,000. I don't make nearly enough to make half a months payment on these loans. They never asked me how much student loans I wanted to take out. They never asked if I wanted to take Private or Federal loans. All I was told is to sign the form that everything was taken care of. At the time I was 18 right out of high school and did not know for sure what I was signing. I trusted them and thought they were taking care of me since I was young and didn't know what all I was doing. Come to find out they have screwed me and now I am not able to repay my loans because I do not make enough money to support my new wife, pay our monthly expenses, and try to repay loans that still haven't helped me get a job in that field of study.

I was shorted quality education, and the price for the minimal education I did receive was inflated. I am paying around 40k for a 'fast track' education where our program teacher told us that we needed to do as many online tutorials as possible, because there was no way that we were going to learn what we needed to know in that time period. I couldn't afford to have the internet at my house at the time I went to school, so I was even behind in the self-education we were told to look for.
I got an Associate in Multimedia, which I believe was changed to web design. Two other major complaints were that I was told not to ask questions in a math class BY THE TEACHER and if I would just be quiet I would have nothing to worry about. Same teacher, final exam... I had a question for him, and he told me that he would just give me an A for trying (I was always taking tutoring and over-achieving to reach my goal of a 4.0).
Another red flag was that we were taught Macromedia director (didn't have one main Photoshop class, mind you, though we were given a book.) just months before it was taken off the shelves!! Useless class!! And we knew at the time we were taking it that it was going to be obsolete in just a couple months...
I am a single mom of three, and these loans are so heavy, and I am just about fed up with my 'not knowing' things I should know in my field when all my co-workers (designers) went to legit schools and universities and know these principles.
I feel very slighted.
I don't mind paying a few thou (I'd say 15k) for my education, because let's face it, I wouldn't have the job I do have if I didn't go to school, but 40k is ridiculous for the second rate schooling I received.

I specifically went to ITT in order to obtain my bachelor's degree in criminal justice, and now, about halfway through the four years it would have taken, I am going to have to start over somewhere else.
I am looking for any other ITT criminal justice majors, or those who began ITT with the intent of becoming criminal justice majors, who are now facing the same or similar predicament.

I started Itt online in 2007 in SC, I now live in FL. I was enthused about getting associates in Business Administration. I was told how easy the classes would be and how they would help me get the financing for tuition, and once I completed the course they would help me find a job.... I found out after already signing contracts how much this for profit school was charging me, and then found out there were no careers for an associates in Business administration, and found out they do not help find you a career they just have a job search board.... I quit the school within a few months of starting, due to the information I discovered. Now I get collections from ITT Tech for almost $700 and am in debt in stafford loans for over $6000.00 my family and I were going through hard times and were unable to pay the loans, we are not much better off but now i'm getting threats of wage garnishment from the Dept. of Education for my defaulted loans. We can barely afford to make it as it is and I have to figure out how to make payments.

First- My instructors knew the things they teaching but could not explain it to us students. Several instructors had complaints by students and still nothing was done and one instructor had a physical confrontation with a student.
Second-Our instructors passed all of us even knowing that we were not learning anything and still gave us degrees.
Third-I graduated with a Associate's degree in Computer Networking Systems Options in August 2009 and I'm still unemployed and ITT Tech called me once and offered me a job I had absolutely no training in.
Fourth- My admissions adviser said I would not have to pay back unsubsidized loans but I'm still getting letters and notices for both subsidized and unsubsidized loans.

Stricter laws on Continuing education and Trade Schools. Requiring better
Career Assistance to continue Govt Loans
Trade schools and Technical schools take money from students on a continuous
basis every year and make empty promises to students once they have graduated
for career placement. These students are unhappy and are unwilling to repay
there loans, which in the long run will cause damage to the US economy. There
should be stricter Government Laws for these institutions.

After giving close to $70000 for a Bachelor's degree once O had graduated I could n ot get anyomne from the Career Department to help me find a job like I was promised upon recruitment. I also was told by the financial department that upon graduation that I would be able to consolidate my loans to help the burden with repayment. This was not the case and 3 years latter I am still struggling trying to pay over $600 a month in Student loans.

I graduated from ITT with a bachelors in Digital Entertainment and Game Design back in September of 2010. As of now I am still unemployed.
First and probably the greatest complaint I have is that the education provided was so diluted and out of date. We were working with programs up to 4 years out of date with equipment that was little better than a paper weight. Book after book that was completely useleess and even the instructors ignored. Alot of instructors were teaching classes they had no backround in. I had one instructor for all of my game design related classes who was a decent teacher but was a level designer and could not teach much more beyond that. The degree focus's on 3D modeling and game art but did not teach us the programs neccessary for success. I recieved one class on Adobe Photoshop that was taught by someone that seemed to be learning the program herself. I wouldn't even call in an introductory course. The only modeling program we handled was 3D Studio Max, which is good but is only one tool neccessary for todays industry standards. Programs like Z-Brush or Mudbox that game employers demand experience with were not ever touched on at ITT. I feel like I payed for an education I never recieved.
Second their career servises department is completely useless. In the year since i have graduated I have seen 6 different career services people show up then quit. So far not a one of them seems to have any idea how to find a job other than google searching. They recomend companies that are blantant scams or send you information on jobs that dont apply to you. As I said my educations focus was on 3D animation and art but instead of art jobs they send programming jobs of which I have had one introductory class that was worse than the Photoshop class. And every few months when that career services rep quits I have to start all over again with a new one because it seems no one keeps any records in that office.
I am no closer to getting into the gaming industry now than I was when I started ITT. They fill you full of hopes and promises and deliver nothing but debt and depression.

I am a 6th quarter student with 6 months to go until I receive my AAS. ITT is in the business of making sure people pass. open book tests, I even had an instructor walk us through each and every question on the final exam because he knew everyone in the class was going to fail. This isn't learning, it's buying a degree. I have a friend who showed up to 5 classes out of 11 in another class and he passed, in fact he still holds an "honors" gpa. Im terrified that I wont be able to find work when I get out of school.

I attended ITT Techincal Institure in Woburn, MA and obtained my Associate's Degree in Multimedia. So, here is how my experience went.
First, I was talked into signing my loans myself. No co-sign from my parents. The student loan officer who recommended this never told me that my interest rate would be ridiculous, and that it would essentially destroy my future.
Second, I was taught by multiple teachers who only had their Bachelor's degrees. One of them taught 4 different classes. I KNOW that in Massachusetts, you NEED a Masters degree to be a qualified teacher. I am not sure if the rules are different because ITT is a privately funded school, or what, but once the Dean learned of this guys Bachelor's, he was fired on the spot. I was taught 4 classes by him, and 2 by another teacher with just a Bachelor's.
Third, almost half of the books we were forced to buy, were useless. All of them soft/paperback workbooks, that were going for I don't know? $40-$60. Also, for classes that were about Adobe products, we used some no name books to learn. Why wouldn't we have used the official Adobe lab books? Poor choice of class materials. Most of the teachers taught directly from the books, which was also very poor. When learning how to shoot video, and your teacher doesn't even know how to hold a camera, it gets frustrating.
Fourth, there was no attempt to help me find a job. For most of my time there, I had to find my own full-time job to work, and it had nothing to do with my curriculum. It was simple data entry. I was eventually laid off before my graduation. After graduating, I went about 9 months unemployed. During that time, I was forced to make a few payments so that I could put my loan into forbearance. The first one was no big deal. I had to fork over I think something like $600. After going into forbearance for 6 months, I came out, still unemployed. During one of three forbearance periods, I worked for about 4 months contracting, but then was laid off again. Once I came out of forbearance that time, I tried to go back in because I was collecting just $280 a week in UI. This was during the winter. So, I had a chat with Sallie Mae (my loan handler), and they said I had to make another payment to go back into forbearance. I explained to them that I was unemployed, which should qualify me for forbearance alone, but they did not care. They asked for another $600. I then explained to them that if I were to pay the $600, I would have to go the month without gas, which would turn off my heat, hot water, and I would be unable to cook food on my gas stove. They didn't care. Out of fear of defaulting, I made the payment and went 37 days without heat and hot water in the middle of January. Keep in mind I am from Massachusetts, and that should also be illegal.
Fourth, after all this stuff, things just continued to get worse. I ended up being unemployed for almost another 9 months after I was laid off of my contracting job. There was no work in web, design, or audio/video. The little money I did make, was from my side project music company. The amounts aren't even worth nothing, at most a thousand dollars over the year. That being said, I was unable to make any payments. Sallie Mae defaulted my loan while I was unemployed. Is that even legal? It says in my loan contracts, which are initialed and signed by me and my counselor, that they cannot do that while I am unemployed. They used my contracting and self-employment against me. I was unemployed, but because I had my own company, they said I was working. Which I wasn't, like I already said a few times.
Since that time my loan has changed hands several times, and is around the $100,000 mark. It all started around $27,000-$33,000, I'm not sure what it started at without looking at my documents.
I was totally taken advantage of. Poor education, lack of good equipment, bad curriculum, teachers lacking Master's degrees, old computers, crappy books, high interest rates, bad loan providers, no option for federally subsidized loans, no help finding work, no nothing. Plain abuse. They are for profit, and that is it. As long as they get their money, they don't care how many futures they destroy.
I wish I could go back to college, but cant. I wish I could get a car loan, but cant. I wish I could get my own place, but cant. I cant do ANYTHING because of this mistreatment. Lets do something about this corrupt, for profit, school.

Case Details:
Heres an email I just sent to every admin at my Campus that describes what I just went through at this God awful facility, I currently attend the ITT in Earth City, MO but after tonight I don't think I will ever be going back:
On Monday (October 24, 2011) I received an email from Estella Armstrong regarding a job ad opportunity at a company called Media Grind (the URL to the ad:.http://www.jobhost.org/jobs/viewjob/ft-game-testers-2211796ea9016a75?source=indeed&medium=organic). This company claims to be hiring game testers to come in and test games for $20/hour, write reports, etc. I thought that this was too good to be true but I went ahead and sent in my resume and cover letter for this position anyways. I then emailed Estella and asked if she could possibly give me some more information about this company IE: Where they are located, a website, etc. She told me she didn't have much information but I was told to email Rachael and she pasted me her email address. I then sent the same email to the address that she gave me. I also emailed Sheri with the same questions.
On Tuesday morning (October 25, 2011) I received an email from Sheri to contact her, I had also received an email from someone who said that that wasn't Rachael's email address but she went ahead and forwarded my questions to her. I then proceeded to call Shari but it went to voicemail. I left my name and number and told her I was headed into work but to contact me. After work, around 6:00pm, I checked my cell phone but had not received any calls from her so I tried to call her again..again it went to voicemail. When I came home there was again no emails from anyone so I emailed my contact in the gaming industry, someone who works at Simutronics, Elonka Dunin. I told her about this advertisement for this company and was asking her if she had any more information about it. She emailed me back saying she had never heard of this place before and to be cautious because a lot of people/companies will scam people into offering them a high paying game testing job but then proceed to try to charge them for training and it end up being a bogus job offer she also asked for the web link to take a look at the ad. The advertisement does clearly say that there will be a one week training course but it doesn't mention anything about costs. I sent her the advertisement to which she replied that this is most likely a scam because no company would pay anyone to test video games at $20/hour so I said okay thanks for the information and I am going to pass this info along to my school because they sent me the email. She asked if I could forward her the email that Estella sent me to which I did.
Now today (October 26, 2011) I get a phone call from Rachael asking me why on earth I would forward that email to Elonka and what I was thinking by doing that. I told her that I wanted to get more information about the company so I emailed Elonka to obtain that information. She told me that I should have contacted someone in career services first to which my reply was I did try contacting you and Shari no one returned my phone calls or emails. She said she tried emailing me but for whatever reason my email kept saying invalid to which my response was that she should have just called me she has my number and so does Shari. At this point the guy who also works in the department Mike? I think is his name can be heard in the background saying that my actions were wrong and that what I did was inappropriate. At this point I started getting frustrated and a little angry that they would all sit in a room and gang up on me for the decision that I made to get more information about this company. I told them that I think what they are doing is unprofessional and that I don't like the fact that I am paying in tuition a large amount of money for them to copy and paste ads off of Google that are possibly scams without getting more information about it first. She then said okay thank you and hung up.
Tonight I went to school with the full intentions of bringing this up to the Dean..little did I know he wasn't there so I talked to Dave Steen which was an obvious mistake because he didn't want to deal with it and told me not to worry about it and that it would all blow over. I told him this is unacceptable and I wanted to schedule a time to speak with the Dean and then I left. In my anger I was voicing my frustrations to a fellow student in the hall which Dave walked by and overheard and told me I needed to stop, I was in the wrong in this situation but I was extremely heated about all of this. I told him I wasn't going to stop that I was going to take this to the Dean because I believe that I am being treated unfairly in this situation and he said then I am going to have to ask you to leave so I told him fine and left. I have every intention of not returning to this school and feel like it was a complete and utter waste of my time and resources. I now have to pay tens of thousands of dollars in student loans with absolutely nothing to show for it. I already see online that there is a class action lawsuit filed against this school that I am already taking into deep consideration of joining. I personally had no problems with this school, even the watered down education and the payment for books we never used, or even the instructors who were teaching classes when they obviously had no clue what they were teaching, because I always believed that if I applied myself and work extra hard even outside of class I would be able to learn enough and take out of this education what I put into it and I believe my attendance and GPA proves this. This whole day proved me wrong, I think this school, the Career Services specifically acted completely unprofessional in this manner and have ruined my educational experience at ITT Tech. Today really showed this school's true colors and what the high up guys are really concerned about, and we both know it's not about student satisfaction and job placement. I am sure nothings going to be done about this and that it will all be swept under the rug so that this school can keep racking up high amounts of debt for people and offering them a worthless piece of paper to show for it. But if there is anything you can do to correct this problem from happening to further students it would be much appreciated.

In my second year the financial aid guy quit. The person who took over claimed he had done the entire class wrong on aid. We all had to pay more money. In the second year our teacher proposed a project that was undefined and even he couldn't make work. We all failed the project and complanied to the administrator(we walked out of class). She brushed it aside because we were all in too deep with signed contracts.

they didn't emphasized on their un-transferability of credits due to the more complex ACCREDITATION status of the school.
they also don't stretch that private lenders are harsh on their repayment options, leaving students with no options but to pay whatever amount they supposedly calculated for that loan. students think they will get a better job, then adjust to pay these lenders.
but the most damaged i saw there and was done to me, was a waste of time and money due to their useless way of educating and testing students progress...they really don't care if you learn or not, they will pass you even if you don't know how to write an essay, turn in the assignments, etc...under the pretend of helping students, everyone is given tons of opportunity to turn in home works, and if you didn't turned in, you surely can make up for in another senseless activity. that's why they keep passing students, they need their guaranteed students loans from students. it is such a well orchestrated plan and scam, because US department of Education doesn't have the authority to intervene with what they do,( look it up) and lets say the government will do something, like some new regulations they already put in place a little too late too lame, schools like ITT and those private lenders are will always be off the hook. STUDENTS OF THESE INSTITUTIONS SURELY WILL NEED A BAIL OUT,.

I graduated from ITT with a associates degree in computer networking systems, back in June of 2010 The only job they helped me get was a contract that only lasted a few months. I still haven't got a job in my field or help for that matter also it seems that companies say my degree is to broad and not focused on one topic. On top of that I tried to continue my education at a university and thy stated my degree isn't excepted at all. Also to make matters worse my loans seems to be from one company but its not one loan it turned out to be 6 loans.

Someone needs to file a class action against ITT such as the one that is in current standing against Le Cordon Blue. Holding a “degree” from ITT has done me no good at all. I graduated in ’08 and never gained employment as an Information Systems Administrator or in the Information Systems Security field as a whole (even though I was on the “Dean’s List” several times because of my 3.8 – 4.o GPA). I’ve look for employment (in two states) and honestly having a degree from this institution is almost frowned upon. So what to do?
Being an online student afforded me the luxury of having all my paperwork executed via the internet. They even had the ability to fix errors, complete my loan paperwork or whatever else when they said I need money for books or to pay for my next set of courses. And, of course my first quarter/semester I was told I did qualify if FA so I had to have the loans (loans of which I never pick and FA checks I never seen everything went directly to the school).
When it’s all said and done this beautiful experience is running about $50,000, which would be fine if it was really worth that amount, however it’s not. Their mock interviews were worthless; I would have loved a real interview from a real employer. I was told try to intern somewhere…. I would have but I never found intern positions and even if I did interning wouldn’t have paid the loan notes. I worked with 3 campuses trying to find some form of employment, no luck.
Honestly, I have yet to meet anyone walking around using their ITT B.S, A.S, or A.A.S. And yet, every month like clockwork Sallie Mae is requesting an obscene amount of money for these useless degrees. I say, if I’m correct in contractual law you have to have a meeting of the minds for it to be binding, well in my mind I was going to get a degree that I could use but it isn’t so we didn’t have a meeting of the minds.
I would happily give them their degree back if they’ll give me the loan amounts back, that’s all I want.

I was told that we would be trained to meet industry expectations for Drafting and Design. Most of the local companies are using Solid Works for mechanical design. ITT has one 10 week familiarization class on Inventor... Employers not interested in a 10 week familiarization course in 3-D modling program they do not use. The Architectural classes (all 2 of them are not at all sufficient to land a job in that field, and one civil design course not sufficient to land a job in that area. It cost almost $40K to learn that I was sold a bill of goods.

My son is in the same boat as all the others above. During school the teachers were a joke . In one class he was having trouble and the teacher just flunked him and offered no help or indication that he was failing. At this point he wanted to leave the school but was told he couldn't . It seems they were more concerned about their money than the student. Finally he got a so called Ass. degree in multimedia. After graduation he received one phone call to help him find a job and that was all. He is currently looking into going back to school but none of the credits will transfer. I notice now that put a disclaimer on their stupid ads that says something about credits not likely transferring. Where were these in 2006 and why weren't we told this when he enrolled. We were $50,000 in debt and he currently still owes over $10,000 in debt for a worthless piece of paper. He never found a job in the area he loves and ended up working as a mover.

I graduated in December 2010 with an AS in IT Multimedia. My GPA was 3.33. To my knowledge, none of the people who graduated with me got a job in this field. I have not received a single phone call since I graduated with a job offer or even help with job searches.
It is my understanding that schools with the "type" of accreditation that ITT follows are to have a 65% or better employment rate for graduates, and that certainly hasn't been achieved with my class. I do not know if this rate has to be met for each field that they teach or if it has to be met globally (over all of the fields that graduate), but I was told it is supposed to be met on a per field basis.
Whatever the case, I certainly have no use for the degree I received, so I don't really understand why I should have to pay for it.
There were also problems with the "standards" that ITT maintained while I attended, but I don't want to go into it here.

After telling the employees at ITT Tech that I can only attend day classes, 3 times (twice on the phone and once in person with my IT Chair), they registered me for night classes. I of course have to explain the situation AGAIN, not to mention that I have been on day classes for the previous two semesters since I work nights. I am then told: "If a program of study has 20 students, 15 night students and 5 day students, it becomes an issue of who gets the classes and teachers." So there are not any core classes for day students. Hence, I need to "change my program of study" or "transfer out to a different school." Will my credits transfer?" I ask. "Uh, I don't know, probably not.", is the reply. This is illegal and a violation of contract. I am now $25,000 - $50,000 in debt for nothing. Something needs to be done and now!!

Another update by me! I recently read this article: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/obama-administration-may-shut-down-5-percent-profit-123638928.html
This article goes on to explain how the government is proposing legislation to stop schools like ITT from the recruitment practices that allowed us to become entangled in the mess we are in. The Article describes how these schools are getting paid federal money from us whether we succeed or not. These schools are PREYING on people like us, and worse, low income, even HOMELESS people in some cases! They do not care how it impacts our lives, they still get their money! If the government is thinking of making laws to stop these schools, what about us? The people who have already been victimized? Why has no one taken this case? There are some 73 respondents to this case on here alone, and once it got started, I am SURE more victims would pop up! WHY OH WHY are Lawyers NOT taking this case? I just want my life back! And I am sure everyone else here does too? They are in the wrong! There are so many people suffering the same problems, they can't NOT be in the wrong! And NOW even congress is saying "Hey, what these schools are doing to people is fu*ked up"? Why isn't someone helping us? I NEED to get my life back, in this economy.....I feel so helpless, and the future only looks darker everyday...

I graduated from ITT Tech in 2005. Got an AS degree and have not been able to get a job in my field. I tried to talk to the recruiter for ITT but they never returned my call. I am 52000 dollars in debt and working in a retail store making just over $9/hr. They are now taking the money out of my checks. How am i supposed to take care of my family after all this. We cannot get a house, a car, or anything else for that matter. What are we supposed to do? I was trying to better my family's lives and ended up making it worse! I want these loans gone and off my credit report and I thin ITT Tech should pay for them and pay for all the pain and suffering it has caused me and my family. I think they should do the same for everyone else that went there as well.

I am in my 2nd year...I wasnt going to finish but I feel forced to get the degree so not to feel I got nothin at all out of this.....I know they are lazy and liers. I did turn in things done half fast at times and still get 100 A. I was so hurt when I realized they werent probably even looking at my work which I spent hours on. I thought I was doing well....with the good grades...then when fell behind I half did things to get caught up and recieved the same grades....I was so hurt by this. I thought I should be glad at first....because I got an A. Then I realized when I try to get a job I will know nothing of what my degree says...........I am going for web design. Out of an entire year(fulltime) I only had 2 classes that tought basics and it was BASIC---I could have tought myself...well I do--I am an online student. The instructors do not help at all! I am very hurt by this but decided to return and itleast get my crappy false degree-----in hopes to find a job. I currently do not have one and have this over whelming feeling that it wont help me when I do. I already owe over 9,000 and this coming yr will double that....but itleast I get that degree.
I wish I could sue---but who in our position is going to feel like they have a chance in hell against ITT. Can anyone help? Make them stop hurting people and ripping them off!!!!!7/29/11
I am set to return in Sept. now...already signed the papers(embarrassed to say)

I was told my student loans were lost due to lack of attendence when ITT gave me on-line courses (that I had never been informed of and would have never accepted on-line courses in the first place) but I never got the classes on my schedule, then was told ITT got my funding back a month or more later.
After being told numerous times by the registrars office that they did not know why I only had one class where I was to have three, missing a month or more of the two on-line classes I was told my funds had been lost due to lack of attendence of the two on-line courses I had never been informed of and would not have accepted ANY on-line courses in the first place. A month or more went by and then was told "ITT" got my funding back and that I could continue my "education".
How could ITT give anyone on-line courses while attending in-house without "asking" if a student would accept on-line courses? The biggest problem I have is how could ITT get a students funding "back" and the student never be involved or even sign to get funding back or even review the loan agreement in order to get their funding back?
Along with what I've stated above, as many others on this forum, was lied to about accreditation, job placement, students being "passed" when there was no way they could have passed ANYTHING! SO MUCH to list that I later found were complete lies.
So, now I owe THOUSANDS and have NOTHING to show for it! I have not been able to find a job in the line of "education" I "somewhat" recieved.
Teachers were also another problem I had. ITT went through Teachers like they came in 6 packs. I found only 1 in all of my "education" that actually had a clue as to what they were teaching and was employed at ITT more than one quarter!
Then there's Sallie Mae which has DOUBLE billed me! (and many other NUMEROUS problems Sallie Mae has caused)
I am TOTALLY dissatisfied and KNOW FRAUD has been committed by this institution and Sallie Mae.

I went to ITT Tech for Multimedia, and I got Financial Aid, after approximately 3 months, I was told I didn't qualify anymore, therefore couldnt continue at the school. The thing is, [and I've come to found out now]..I wasnt even supposed to be accepted in the first place, because I had just come from Cuba 2-3 months earlier, I barely spoke any English, and of course neither me or my family had any credit. Just like most immigrants, I came with a dream. We thought "WOW, this is neat the government gives me money so I can go to school and get my education"...If only I had known better =[...Needless to say, they started billing me right away for those 3 months, something like $5000/6000, and at the beginning I was paying, then my accnt, I guess, got sold to General Revenue, who I guess collects Sallie Mae's debts, not sure, the thing is..I dont think they were reporting to Sallie Mae my payments bc ITT kept calling on their behalf as well, and I was getting statements from 2 collectors. Well, I wasnt doing too well so I couldnt keep paying, so now my account is on default and I cant go to any other schools, unless I pay cash. I found out this now, 6 yrs later]. When I tried to applied to a school for Massage Therapy. I was very skeptical about going for Financial Aid again, and I explained to the Financial Advisor why and my bitter experience with ITT. She was horrified and told me she felt sad for me, then she explained in detail how the whole financial aid thing works, and how I wasnt supposed to even be accepted . I cried at that office, and when I got home, finally realizing how seriously I got screwed. Then in one of these websites [maybe this one] I read about a professor who left the school, because he knew that ITT just approves anyone because thats how they make more money or something like that. For the longest time, I did not have an idea of what happened or why, the whole transaction was a blur, because I didnt even understand the way it worked, it wasnt really explained to me. So yeah, I've been pissed and bitter about the whole education system as a whole, mainly because of that first "impression". Not the American Dream I expected. // 2.- My boyfriend have the same situation, except they actually, almost let him finish..they kicked him out 1 semester short from graduating in Architecture. Same story, Financial Aid doesnt cover you anymore. Poor thing is in debt by like 20,000..for about a year they've been taking money from his paycheck and they take his tax return. And as "pennyb" he tried to work a payment plan with them, but they wanted more than what he could afford. I think they have to be stopped, THE SOONER THE BETTER.

I attended ITT Technical Institute for 2 years and obtained a Associate Degree in Multimedia. I feel like I was tricked into signing up eventhough I was looking to better my life at the time.
I didnt know how was going to afford college since my parents were not going to pay for my loans or co-sign. I was and still am a painter so I had to pay for my own education. And the recruiter told me that once I finished they would help find a good job and that "you dont want to be a painter for the rest of your life? do you?" eventhough painting paid my way through the little I could pay. To make a long story short. I was told that a two year degree would cost me 36,000. By the time I was done they wanted me to sign a paper which I refused to sign saying I owed 54,000. And they said if I didnt sign I wouldnt get my diploma and get to be in the graduation ceremony. I thought I would better my life by going there instead I have loans that I cant pay because I dont have a stable employment. The classes were run by part time teachers that would leave in the middle of class. And the degree I got when I did go to job interviews got laughed at when presented.

I attended ITT and received a Associates in Computer Networking. The recruiters and staff had offered to help me secure a job once I graduated. A total lie! A lot of other colleges don't take their credits. And now I plan on going back to school for a totally new career change. But I have to pay Sallie Mae way too much money. And what's worse I may not be able to receive help to go back to school since I owe ITT SO MUCH. ITT is a fraud! I admit I was young and dumb. I don't see how they are still in business. It's sad because I found my ideal career in the Medical Field, but again it will be hard to receive funding. Please help I am a single mom working partime.

I graduated from ITT Tech Green Bay, WI campus with a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice with honors status on June 12th, 2010. I raised a family, worked extremely hard, and worked hard in school! I chose to go back to school to BETTER my life! This was not the case at all! It ruined my life! What an extremely exhausting disappointment in an honest hard working american's life! 4.5 years straight with no summer breaks of hard work for nothing! I came to the realization that there was an issue with ITT Tech, the recruitment information I was given, the loan expectance information I was given by the loan officer, the classes themselves, and the list goes on, after i was already involved morally, time consumption and loans that were taken out that it was too late for me to pull out without leaving without my degree! I beg of anyone, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL!!!! I feel so much disappointment for all others in the same boat as me, as I am finding there are so many, too many! I am 80,000 in debt! Which for this type of tech school is a ridiculous amount!I will not deny the fact that I was well aware that I was taking loans for school, however, after opening my eyes and removing the blinders and denial, I was tricked into recruitment for starters.I am not sure that the test I took was even a valid test and graded correctly for entrance. I was told by my rep who was later let go from ITT Tech, that ITT Tech had the highest job success rate and career services guarantees the extra mile in exhibiting to helping you find a career in your field. The classes were held with professional and skilled professors. I asked several questions on my credits transferring, and how I was expected to back the loans, and if these types of loans would ratio off my earned income. I was told my by rep that my credits would transfer anywhere at anytime. i was also told by the rep and recently proir to graduation by the loan officers, when I specifically asked about my payment on my loans and that I would be able to work out an affordable amount with my loans, along with the ratio of my earned income, on several occasions, I was told yes. I was told that the loans would be affordable payments, and they would negotiate a payment of agreement that I could afford, not just a selected payment. i was also not aware of the amount of interest that was being tacked onto these loans! I have names on paperwork of these key individuals involved in representing this false information. Career services was a complete joke. I have emails where I have contacted them several times on assistance and information they would give me, on companies coming to the campus, that would end up mysteriously not working out. They would ignore any contacts that I would try making with them, or if they did respond, there would be obvious lies, and no assistance, I reported an issue with the Dean while I was attending, and I was ignored over and over, until I advised that I would go to theboard if my issue was not resolved. Also, during recruitment in early 2006 when I was told my credits would transfer, it was odd as in around 2009/2010 an admin came into every class to have them sign a paper stating credits would not transfer to certain colleges. They stated that we needed to sign it in order to continue with classe. I'M SURE THIS IS ON FILE AND IT SOULD BE LOOKED INTO! Of course, most students felt forced to sign as they were already in too deep to leave without a degree due to not signing the paper. I remember that day, I felt the biggest pit in my stomach ever, and refused to sign it! However, i later ended up signing it after being bombarded that I needed to have this signed immediately! I felt backed into a corner and helpless! I could go on! All of this is and should be considered illegal in a court of justice! What about the act of 1934! This is all false representation! Please don't ask to read the fine print, and read for days, and I will tell you its misconstrued and some or most of the given information is not in the fine print! What about going to school to better one's life! What has happened to this world that now schools are ripping off hard working people! Look at all of us in so much debt! I was accepted for a home, and now I am not accepted for a home or anything else due to my school loans! Even though I have worked so hard, what is in store now for my family! Look at all these people impacted, what is going to happen here, this is going to cause some pretty rash downstram impacts, and the economy and life is bad enough now, wait for it! Education is supposed to be positive and better ones life! What has happened here! At any rate, this needs to be stopped! I am a business analyst and working hard for the same company for some time now, of course, after rigorious tries still have not landed a career in my field of study from ITT Tech, but hoping to take the knowledge that I have basically gained on my own in Criminal Justice the 4.5 years I spent there to be involved in a lawsuit, of class action lawsuit against ITT Tech for everything they have taken from all you hard working people! Anyone able to come forth with anything additional to help please do so! I hope our president starts seeing what's happening to our education system and puts a stop to it! This isn't just your average scam; this is impacting people for life! I will legally be researching this. I think going to the general and the right attorneys and fact finding laws will be a start! Everyone's information here is great! Thank you!

I am a previous poster but, after reading some new posts, it brings up a few more points I forgot about:
#1. Books, ITT keeps all of your tuition, including whatever you might get from grants, because they provide books for you. These books are all printed cheaply in India and are either screwed up, or out of date. We had a book for a class one time, there the whole second half of the book was upside down, every book was like that! And another example, Several books I had would be missing chapters, or pages, they would go chapter 123678, or page 322, 476, that kind of thing.
#2. More about financing, how is the whole Sallie Mae thing different from the housing collapse racket? My husband recently brought up something very interesting. When I signed up for ITT, we lived in subsidized housing, on food and medical assistance, no money, no credit, So poor it was pathetic. When I first tried to get the loan, it didn't go through, so my husband tried to co-sign, the loan still did not go through. I didn't think I was going to get to go to school, I shouldn't have been able to go to school! But one day the admissions lady called and told me, it got through, get ready to start! How in the HELL did they get my loan through? It should NOT have went through! It should have save me from this, but somehow, they got it through?? I don't understand? Even if I didn't realize the ramifications of this loan, they should have! AND they should have realized that I would NEVER be able to pay this off? It really sound like what is going on with Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, housing thing? I also want to know why I still ended up owing so much, even though I was eligible for all kinds of grants every quarter? Where did my grant money go? It doesn't even look like they were reflected in my final bill!? This school is terrible! I don't know what's worse? The rip off with the money, or the hope they destroyed, that I had, believing I was going to have a better future. Now my future is worse than ever! Some other guy mentioned giving back the diploma, and calling it even, I would do that right about now too if I could! This has been a devastating experience. And you know, it is not just ITT, All those other private schools out there like ITT are doing this too! There needs to be some laws against these schools from ripping people off!

I went to ITT Tech in San Bernardino for almost 2 years. While I was signing up, the recruiter promised me all these jobs and even said that it's in my contract that they get me a job while attending school. About 1 year into the program (Computer Networking Systems) they got me a job selling Kirby Vacuum cleaners door to door on full commission with what looked like stolen vacuum cleaners. I quit after 1 hour and they acted as if that was my chance of a life time. Also while attending class there, Every "Final" and "Test" was also given with an answer sheet that contained all the answers to the questions. I only had 1 or 2 classes where the teachers actually knew what they were teaching, and most of the teachers had to use a translator to look up english words while teaching the class! We brought this to the Dean's (Mr. Capinegro) attention, and he sat in the classroom one day. His only response was that we were "Stabbing" at the teacher with our questions. I'm sorry, but paying that much to go to school and not being able to ask questions about what they are teaching is a waste of time & money. I could go on and on about my expierence, and I'm really hoping to get somewhere by posting on this site. Please help!!!!

I started attending ITT in 2008 pursuing my Associates Degree in Computer Network Systems (CNS). I successfully completed the program and graduated top of my class. I don’t recall exactly how it happened but they convinced me to continue on for my Bachelors degree, and honestly it is the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life! I am still attending ITT with my graduation set for July 2012. Throughout the Associate program I thought ITT was great, it was very hands on and I actually learned a lot. The classes had the kinks worked out for the most part and the instructors knew the information they were teaching. Having the experience I did I “assumed” the Bachelors program would be the same if not better. Thinking back I should have dropped out the first quarter of my BA program. From the very first quarter there has been nothing but problems with everything we try and do. It is so ridiculous, their suppose to be teaching us to be Network Administrators and Security Professionals and the instructors don’t even have Administrator privileges on the network. Not a single lab has worked, every class, every quarter it’s the same thing; Two instructors, the IT chair, and the schools Network Administrator all standing around trying to figure out how to get the lab equipment to work. Every quarter it’s the same thing they say they need to go buy this or that and they’ll have it right by next quarter. Well what about me taking the class this quarter? I’m so fed up with apologies, the dean coming in telling us how sorry he is, it’s a joke they have no idea what they’re doing. They have even gone as far as just passing us all with A’s to try and make us happy. Well that doesn’t work for me I go there to learn a trade not get pushed out with a piece of paper saying I know something I truly don’t. I really don’t understand how they have made it this far without being shut down! I along with several other students (10+) feel like we are completely being cheated out of our education that we are paying tons of money for. I want a refund and think I deserve one. I have several students as well as an ex instructor that would be more than willing to verify and further support my claim. Please contact me if you think you can help me or if you know if there are any laws regarding educational institutes not providing the education the promise. Thank You

I decided to go back to school for networking in March 2008. I decided on ITT because after the tour and interview, I thought ITT would be an excellent institution to get my education. It did not take long to realize that my intuition was wrong. Most of the instructions, at least in the evening, were only there because they were given $100 bucks a class. In my intro to programming class, only one or two students had an idea of what they were doing by course end. The instructor went as far as to write the code for the final exam on the board for the class. There were many classes where I felt lost but yet still managed an "A" in the class. I graduated with an associates in networking "with honors" even though I did not feel like I knew any more then when I begin.
I decided to get my bachelors at ITT after discovering my credits would not transfer to another college and I could not afford to start over at another school. Since I was disappointed in my lack of education at the Earth City campus, I was hopeful the online classes would be better but I discovered I was wrong there as well. There was no direction by the "instructors" as to how assignments should be completed. The feedback I received on assignment were "cookie cutout" statements and I still received full credit. I began recycling old assignments from other classes that I had the same instructors to test whether they were actually reading these assignments and I would still get full credit. The real indicator of my knowledge in these classes came from my finals where I would get a "C" on the final after receiving 100% on assignments during the coarse of the class.
I would drop out now if I hadn't already invested a lot of of time and a lot of money in my education. I think ITT is more interested in the checks they receive in tuition then my actual education. I have a job in my field but I learned more by being trained for two months on the job then the two years I spent "learning" my craft in classes. I discourage all I can who express their interest in attending ITT. I would have never gone to ITT in the first place had I known of the complaints most of their former students have for this institution. I doubt that anything will come of this attempt to recoup what I consider losses in my lack of education but simply getting the information out there for others to see that might deter a potential student from ITT to another school, is justice enough.

I originally was looking for a school that offered an architectural program to get my degree in architecture. I already am a certified drafter and have done construction my whole life ranging from carpentry to electrical. ITT Tech promised me that they offered a certified architectural program with transferable credits.
After 9 months in the course I was informed by a teacher, not ITT Tech, that they do not have any sort of architectural program and I was in fact only enrolled in a drafting program for schooling and education which I already possess. At that point I asked ITT about it and they said "well you already signed the papers, too bad" to I voluntarily quit the school.
If all this wasn't enough, they continued collecting money from the federal government for over 6 months AFTER I left the school on my student loans, with no notification to me, or to the government that I was no longer attending. This is to the amount of over 10,000 they stole from me for a school I wasn't even attending anymore.
Now this has not only ruined my credit, but the federal government is docking my paydays as a private vendor working with my brother who is a veteran and has 100% service connected traumatic brain damage. If this continues I won't be able to keep his care going and thereby ITT Tech is hurting a veteran. Not only did they lie and stole from me but now they are putting a veterans care at risk.

I was going threw some downsizing and decided to go back to school.
ITT Tech made me an offer to go to school. So i decided to do so. While
i was signing papers they kept verbally
telling me they would fine me a job and for 2 years after that, they would tell me the same thing.
When i got out of school ITT Tech wasn't there for me. I have on how many resumes and apps. i sent out trying to fine work.
So i decided that ITT Tech had embezzle money through Sallie Mae in my name. I told Sallie Mae in 2004. It seems it didn't faze them and they never investigate the problem. Then i thought well maybe their part of it.
I would like to fine an attorney who would stop this for me. What i would like is ITT Tech pay my loan with Sallie Mae and ITT Tech pay me $50,000.00 for misrepresent the facts. I would like for Sallie Mae to pay me $50,000.00 for harassment.
The attorney can have whats left from the lawsuit. I would think if hes any good he could make hundreds of thousand of dollars.
Thank you for any help

My classmates cheated and lied through school. I turned in assignments half completed at times and still got an A. Final tests were studied verbatim literally minutes before the actual test was taken. Teachers assisted during tests. Teachers lied about attendance. Teachers offered in class credit for taking the student surveys for their class.

I attended ITT for 2 Years and unfortunately learned close to nothing, there were two instructors that stood out and actually knew what they were talking about. Anyone can pass their curriculum with straight As, there was a classmate that never brought in books or took any note and somehow always had great grades; and it wasn't like he was super smart because when you asked something he didn't know. At first I thought that because it was the first clases that the challenging level was the way it was but after a year I began to notice that all they wanted was to comply with HQ's money making scam, there where Virtual library assignments every class and all you had to do was print out an article about the subject as opposed to actually researching. Most of the instructors during lab had no idea how to troubleshoot any issue that may had come up and you could tell that no one there ever gone through the steps of each lab, on one of my last classes we were scheduled to complete a group final project, and a PLC programming project; we had too much time in theory which consisted in copying word for word what the textbook said and could never get around finishing the PLC part of the class. I now have an AS in CEET and would like to transfer to a four year college but cant because of accreditation. When I first enrolled I clearly asked the recruiter if credits where transferable to which she replied "yes, of course" but what she didn't tell me was that they are transferable only to another ITT Campus. Job placement is the worst they had job fair and FedEx, UPS, McDonald's, and companies of the like where there; never a company hiring for something related to my career field.

I attened ITT Tech for 1 1/2 semesters, I took out Student Loans and Pell Grants and recently I was advised by a Collection Firm General Revenue that IIT Tech has placed me with them to collect $5000.00? How do I owe ITT Tech any money when they clearly were paid by Sallie Mae and Pell Grants? So now I am paying $85 per month just to Itt tech alone. Sounds to me that they are "double dipping".. HELP!

Case Details:
I started at ITT Tech in late 2006 and graduated in 2008 with a AS in CEET. When I graduated, I soon noticed that what ITT Tech taught me WAS NOT relative material for the millenium. We were taught about floppy drives, DOS prompt, Windows XP, and through-hole components. Not long after, I went for a job interview where they wanted me to do a test on a circuit board that had SMT components on it. I simply stated to the person that I did not know how to work on SMT. Come on ITT Tech, just about everything these days has SMT in it. Why did you not teach us about newer tech that has been used for years?
My second issue was with ITT Tech's promise to find a job for every student that is in their field of study. What a load of crap that is. Everything that was offered at ITT Tech WAS NOT anywhere close to being in my field. Movie usher? Dog groomer? It is 2011, and I do not have a job that deals with computers nor electronics. These tech companies today don't even care if you went to ITT Tech and have a piece of paper saying that you graduated. They want job experience.
Third issue was that ITT Tech stated numerous times that the students would not have to begin payment on loans until a few years after graduation. This was done so that the students could find a job and begin saving money to pay off loans. Well, not long after my graduation, good ol' Sallie Mae began hitting me up for payments.
This brings me to my final issue...Sallie Mae. Sallie Mae has to be the worst company I have ever dealt with in my whole life. They have managed to turn a college degree into a financial nightmare. They had me sending payments to two different locations. I then started getting letters and telephone calls AT ALL TIMES OF THE DAY telling me about past due payments. Found out that a bunch of my payments that were suppose to be for one set of loans were actually getting sent to the second set of loans. This means that the first set of loans were not getting payments. Found out that Sallie Mae did this to make the bank happy. Since 2008, I have been getting harassed by Sallie Mae. It's gotten to the point where I'm about to tell Sallie Mae to bug off and just live in debt my whole life. I am tired of dealing with Sallie Mae. I have no clue as to why ITT Tech would use such an awful company to handle student loans. Something needs to be done about ITT Tech and Sallie Mae. They are both ruining people's lives!

I received my bachelors degree a year and a half ago and I have yet to even have one interview. I was told that I would be guaranteed at least one interview and that is all I have gotten. But in that one interview, that was at the school mind you, had no computers available to show our work on. I am in the graphic design program and this is an important part of the interview. That was a year ago and since then, all I have gotten was random e-mails about job fairs. Not only that, but most of my classes were theory based and you know how much theory is involved in Animation and Video Game design. Now I am overwelmed by debt and have nothing to show for it. I don't even get the job fair e-mails anymore

I have around $35k in debt. Not only can I not get a job, but a week before "graduation" I was handed a bill for an additonal $3500 that wasnt covered by loans and they wanted a check. If I could give them a check right then they were willing to "knock off" 25% of the amount owed as a courtesy. Not only did I have my Pell grants milked dry but anything else I "qualified" for as well.

I drove from Battle Creek, Michigan to Grandrapids, Michigan witch is about 75 miles one way, 2 to 3 times a week for 2 years... that come out to over 15,000 miles. I took a programing class in Java, C++, I signed up at ITT after getting My GED. The instructor that was supose to teach me how to program did not even no how to turn on a computer let alone teach java or c++ he was well in his late 50's or early 60's and didnt know the first thing about a computer.. evertime i asked him a question about programming he would take me to the library and show me a book that was about 5 inches thick and tell me that my answer was in there. I had a grade point average of about 3.5 until the last semester and thats when we had to take our finals. i had to write a program out of java that did loans for a bank on a website and they said if my program didnt work i would have to take the class over witch would be more money.. well I had enough of their lies and non teaching ways I told the dean that I was going to expose them of their tactic's if they would make me take it over. i also had another student with me that was going through the same class and he also stood up to them and said that he would do the same.. they told us if we could get our program to half way work they would let us graduate.. After taken that class and had them waste my time and money i coulnt program a remote control for a TV if i had to. Now i have a company that sally mae sold my loan to call me on the hour every hour harrasing me for the loan.. I filed my taxes this year and they took all of it 4300 dollars. i have 4 other students in need of a atorney as well for they are going through the same thing i am going through.. they also were student at ITT.. We signed up for school thinking that we could do better for our selves and our family members all we did was make it worse on ourselves.. not only are they harrasing us they are steeling the money right out of our pockets and they didnt teach a thing execpt thateven crooks can look like normal people.. I graduated ITT in 2007, I have STILL not found a job with my degree. I am VERY upset with the school for many of the same reasons everyone else here is. When I started school, no one told me ITT was NOT accredited, I did not find this out until a friend tried to transfer over to another school, and told us our credits weren't worth crap. A year after I started there, they finally added the fine print on the commercials that said ITT wasn't accredited. I did not entirely understand what the recruiters told me about the loans. I am almost certain I was told my education was going to cost $25,000.00, and NOW I am told I owe $50,000.00! Upon graduation, I was working as a volunteer for a charity, and ITT sent me the employment questionnaire forcing me to list my volunteer employment as my employment, so they could look like they placed me in a job of my degree. BUT I was already working for the charity way before I graduated, and I was not getting paid for it! I have not heard anything from them since 2007, about helping me find a job. They gave up when I lived too far away from where most of the jobs were. I have tried to contact them, to get help, but I seem to be all alone on this, after being promised job placement. Some of the instructors there really seemed to care, and take an interest, but some of them would actually encourage you to cheat on final exams, by letting us use open books, and note sheets we would fill out to study before the exams, with all of the questions from the tests. I have heard from TWO sources now that HR departments in many companies HATE to see ITT students come through, as the students "don't know anything", and they always throw away their resumes. I myself obtained a degree in Multimedia. I have learned since then, that the hot software that all graphic design departments are using is Quark, on Mac computers. While I was in school we NEVER once looked at a mac computer OR Quark. I have missed out on at least three jobs because of this! I went to school because needed to make a positive change in my life, that would enable me to lift myself out of the poverty that I have always lived in. I was the first in my family to EVER go to college, I worked my butt off in school, I graduated with honors, I hoped for a brighter future, for myself, AND my daughter. And now my life is TOTALLY ruined! I owe so much money for a sham degree, I don't think I will ever get it paid. I am in default, and never again for the rest of my life will I ever to be able to work a job without my wages getting garnished. And how am I supposed to help my daughter go to college now? With this debt? I had relatively little debt before this school, and now my life is ruined with debt all because of a cheating swindling school. I would try to go to a REAL school to get a degree I could actually use, but I am drowning in debt from ITT, and I don't think I would qualify for a loan ever again. What am I supposed to do? I feel VERY cheated, and robbed!
Please somebody, help us with a class action lawsuit against this evil school, so that we might be able to get our lives back? Please?

I attended ITT-Tech for 6 classes and now I owe $4000+ I decided to quit because the instructors had no idea how to teach I felt like I could have stayed home and done what they were doing by myself for free.In one class the instructor would have the students take turns reading out of the book and then would not explain what we had just read.Needless to say I had that instructor fired after teaching only 3 classes. One class she din't even show up we were standing outside her classroom waiting for her for 30 minutes before someone realized she wasnt coming and they brought in another instructor.I took 1 math class it was a joke no examples of the equations were given just the answers.Someone has got to stop these people from scamming low income people who are trying to better themselves.I am a mother of 4 girls and I could have used the $4000 on something they needed instead I have to pay for worhtless teaching.

I attended ITT Tech for four quarters before I did more research and got smart and dropped. At the beginning and end, just now ITT-Tech told me there are plenty of jobs in electronics and that they placed 100% of grads in jobs trying to get me to go back. I found out from a recent grad at my job that was working where I was that there are not a lot of jobs in electronics field now and its tight on jobs. I am interested in joining any class-action suite.

I attended ITT from 2007 to 2010, I received a bachelors degree in criminal justice, I then wanted to transfer to another college to obtain my masters degree in marriage, family counseling, the problem being that ITT mislead me about the accreditation and now the state in which I live will not recognize my degree and I cannot get licensed. I was lead to believe that I would be able to transfer anywhere and that my degree would be accepted and acknowledged. I now have to obtain another bachelors degree from a accredited college so that I can get licensed, the problem is my financial funding ran out because it was used at itt, I have sent several emails to the director to get this issue resolved and I have received no response. I have asked for them to forgive $20,000 in my loans so that I can get another bachelors degree, I have not been able to find employment and soon I will have to start paying back my loans in the amount of $600-$700 a month.

I attended ITT Houston/WEST as well from 2008 to 2010. I was told by the counselor that I was pretty much gauranteed a job placement once I graduated or even before. Career services has not lived up to there part in assisting with my job search. Career Services used to send me emails of job postings but that has stopped since I graduated. They do not return phone calls and cancel appointments with myself. They do not have any kind of close ties with any companies as stated differently upon starting with ITT. Upon almost graduating the school said I did not have to finish the state testing requirements for admittance.

Recruiter first day when signing me up went very quicly and briefly through all the paper work and power point. The rest of the time he spent lieing to me. They said that i could transfer to any other university if i didn't want to stay because i let them know up front that i don't like to stay there because it was way too expensive. The only reason why i when there and i told it to them is that i was late for admission to Washington State University and would like not to wast time - get ahead. Recruiter also said that they have top of the line education that ranks liek 3rd or 2nd in nation - total BS. We were getting 15 minutes of lectures a week in CAD program. while paying huge loans for campus tuition we were getting online education. Another thing that made me quit after a year is that some of my friends who went there before me when graduated couldn't find a job. They are still searching by the way for 3 years now. All 9 people who started program in Fall quit that school together the first summer.( one year) thats how it was in my class. Im sure its pretty darn simular to everybody else though. I defenetly would like to sue them.

I was told my credits would transfer to any other educational institution. For transfer to IUPUI, for example, I could transfer 15 Credit Hours as extra-circular ONLY. Meaning that these credits don't count towards the prerequisites of the degree I signed up for. In fact, the only school ITT’s credits transfer to is a place called Pierce, and ITT owns them too. I didn’t spend 6 months and how many thousands of $’s to work on my extra-circular activities. I could have done that at the YMCA for $40 a year.

I have a loan that was for a little over $9,200. They say it was for $8,400, they don't know where the other money went. I was told by financial aid & by the recruiter that if I tested out of a class & passed, I didn't have to pay. As soon as I graduated, I was told that is not the case. At graduation, they gave me a bill instead of my diploma. Then said that it was suppose to have been mailed out to me. Nothing was ever mailed, I was even at the school the day the bill was printed and talked to Debbie, the lady that stuffed the bill where the diploma was suppose to be! None of the equipment worked. We were suppose to learn how to get fingerprints using a fuming chamber. It never worked in the 2 years I was there. Neither did AFIS. I was lied to multiple times. There were teachers that didn't know what they were teaching. Computer programs that didn't work and a probation and parole teacher gave the entire class an A even though more than half were failing!

I have a student debt from ITT of over $50K and no job to show for it. I graduated with "honors", my undergraduate degree is accepted almost nowhere in hopes of getting a graduate degree to somehow make me more marketable. The degree is a joke, they talk it up to you like ALL ITT's are accredited, and now not many are. I obtained my degree online and its useless, and now that I've completed it, I can't even start a new bachelors program because I've already completed a degree. I would have been better off just quitting at the last minute. I was targeted because I was low income, have kids, single mom, and can't afford daycare to go to "real college"

My grievance is much the same as the ones listed previously. I graduated with “Honors” in 2002 from the ITT in Earth City MO. I was also verbally guaranteed that I would have no problem finding a well paying job that would all me to easy pay off my $42,000(!) student loan. I had one contact with their placement office after graduation. In that single contact they told me that my resume had been submitted to several companies and that they would stay in touch with me until I was placed. That was the last contact I had with ITT’s job services. I left numerous messages requesting a return contact to which they simply ignored. I made two attempts to speak with someone directly at the campus and was told both times that no one was available. I’ve been somewhat successful in the last five years, but years of deferments have grown the interest and size of my student loan debt to a point that making just one payment is impossible.
My educational experience at ITT was sub-par at best! Much of the lab equipment was worn out, damaged, or just non-functional. The non-technical curriculum was at best at a junior high school level.
To sum it up, ITT used my presence to charge Sally Mae an obscene amount of money for a poorly accredited non-transferable associate’s degree and then struck me with an outrageous bill that I will from this point forward refuse to pay.
I am not a “sue happy” or litigious individual. I am pro-business and have earned everything I have through hard work. But in this case, I feel that ITT’s predatory and dishonest tactics should be dealt with harshly.

I never even got a chance to try for a early placement job or a degree from ITT as they got their money from me and kicked me to the curb early on. I was “promised” and guaranteed evening classes by my recruiter and told that ITT was an accredited school. Come orientation I found out my recruiter had “left the school” which I thought was a little strange, but hey people come and go from jobs all the time. From my first semester schedule to my last, a year later I was constantly in the Registrars office getting class changes. Even though my file and schedule both clearly stated I was an evening class student, some how morning classes were always listed. After each trip to the Registrars office my doubts of ITT started to creep as each time I would leave with only math, writing and other sorts of nonsense classes; All of which I was passing with straight A’s due to an incredibly, overly easy curriculum.
Being naïve and as optimistic as I was, I figured I would just get my general education classes out of the way and “the following semester”, as my Dept Chair kept reassuring me, I would get core classes. A semester short of a year at ITT, I was withdrawn form the school due to lack of evening classes. Never once throughout the year was I told this would happen, I was just constantly reassured the following semester I would get my classes.
All in all ITT kept me in their “school” for a year to get as much money as they could out of me. I have since contacted Sallie Mae numerous times about getting a refund or a dispute on the loans from the school but with no luck. I have turned to many lawyers but no-on will touch my case. I have even called the ITT Tech Headquarters, whom the first time directed me back to my campus head. Not long after I received a call from her assistant telling me I have to pay my loans, when I asked to speak directly to the director, I was denied. Many times since then I have tried calling headquarters with no response, call back, or care.
I would like to attend a REAL school next fall but want to get this black stain taken care of. I have read hundreds of student testimonies who went through ITT scams and can’t believe ITT hasn’t been shut down yet. I refuse to pay a penny to a facility that doesn’t and never cared about my well being.

I am a victim of ITT and Sallie Mae. Is there anything i can do to get out of the unheard of student loans that they trick u into after first signing up? they used a bait and switch tactic after my first semester and told me that i no lnoger qualified for the prior loans and would need to sign up for another at an insane interest rate. On top ofthat they had teachers that shouldnt of even been teaching classes there, and that didnt even care to help you when you needed help. In one math class, they went through 3 teachers in ine semester, how am i to learn when the teacher doesnt know how math, and ends up quitting, anoly to be replaced by another that quits! Sallie mae gives the full amount of the loans to the school, no school does that, you got a loan and they give YOU the money, you pay for classes, and the rest u can use for life essesntials. ITT is a fraud and Sallie mae is just taking advantage of people that they know are going to default on loans.

Started September of 07, ended September 09. After the recruiter said I would be working for 1 of over 100 companies, that I would make at minimum $50,000 a year salary with them, and that 98% of there students make this job market. What I got was Fed ex and telemarketing offers. My experiance during ITT tech was a joke in any educational standpoint. I had about 10 teachers during my visit at ITT TECH. 4 of them were very good, 3 of the 4 were terminated during the classes I had them in. the other 6 were a joke, always handing out packets of work and doing nothing, or in one case talking 95% of the time in class telling us not to do anything while he is lecture and we would have 10 minutes to do a 2 hour lab that can only be done in class.
I am in a graduating class of 13 students in the Computer networking program. only one student is currently employed, and he is at starbucks. I have called and shown up many times to there career services. At which they hand me fliers for Fed Ex, UPS, Telvista telemarketing, Sales, and other minimum wage slave labor jobs. And they pester my father for the student loans. If I had gone to a community college I would have taken the CNS program with TRANSFERABLE CREDITS.
I sent a letter to the main headquarters and recieved a call a few days later apologizing for the services. They asked me to talk to there career services again, I agreed and she said that her agent would give me a call that same day. Well two days roll by and I receive an E-mail saying that "tel vista is hiring" ... thats all.
This school needs to pay for my losses in the financial standpoint. Even if I had kept my grocery job before going to college I would have made $40,000 for the two years I went to school rather than pay 40k.

I have the same story as everyone else. Pressure from family made me jump into a school. Seeing the commercials I thought itt would be good along with all the BS the reps fill ur head with like the ability to take online classes but when I tried they simply said no im not deserving. I just want atleast half my tuition back$ 50,000 is asking a little much for the crap education you are getting. I would love to tell my whole story to someone if needed just keep us informed if anything happens. I know there are thousands more I personally represent at least 15 to 20 other students.

Graduated in 2nd networking class offered @ itt. was told 98% of grads go on to work in their field of study. was told about the extensive job placement program they have. Zero, no one in my class (that I'm aware of) went on to a career in networking. Maybe they just didn't know how to teach networking yet, as when I enrolled no one had yet graduated from their networking course (as I stated, I was in the 2nd networking class offered). I was never made aware during the recruiting process (i.e., they made sure I had no doubt that I WOULD, if I graduated, be a network administrator since there was extreme demand at the time for the title (BullS_it), until well after signing a MPN) of this. I, as well as every other person in my class was taken advantage of.
Aren't there laws to protect the consumer (thats what students are @ itt, customers buying a product, as anyone will attest to that has worked for the company. Also, instructors have percentages they must, or are strongly encouraged to meet. Percentages of what? THEY ARE SELLING A PRODUCT, NOT OFFERING AN EDUCATION. They are responsible only to shareholders) from bad products? Like lemon laws? This is technically about consumer rights.
If a salesperson at Sears tells you that a particular product or service will preform a particular way, and in reality, it clearly does not, are you not protected by laws, and able to get a refund on the product or service that you purchased?

Case Details:
I was just out of high school and looked into ITT as a viable college to gain a profitable career in the IT field until I had located a college for a degree in paleontology. I could not afford to sit without doing something for my future due to pressures of family and friends to do something with my life. I inquired, after seeing the bleak and optimistic, ads put out there by ITT Tech. I took a pretty "basic" enterance exam and they were very showy. They left me feeling confident in their practices that I could take their education, find a good career, pay off their loans with ease, and return to college/university to multi-major in computer programming (accented on web development) and vertebrate paleontology.
Boy was I wrong! Let me just come to a head here. While I acknowledged I used their facilities, equipment, and books I fail to see how 35,000 dollars in accured debt from them should cover the Dean of the school's deductible for the porche he was driving at the time during my tenure there. Furthermore, many of the instructors pointed out that the books were inaccurate, being published by an unreliable company from India. They got "new" books (a "new" publisher) and failed to notice that again it was published by the same company and was still inaccurate and we ended up throwing out the book in many of my classes. The equipment was also in cases of disrepair a majority of the time, one lab had faulty equipment in it and we were told "not to use those machines" surely if ITT was turning out the money they were they would be able to replace that with little ease.
Financial aide and the Sallie Mae group they work with is a joke. Not only do I feel Sallie Mae violates consumer practices by Auto-Dialing my phone at all hours of the night (even past 10PM most cases) but they have harassed my friends and family to the point of them not wanting to speak with me as a result. ITT had first said in the end I would only have to pay 1,000 dollars back and payments were easy. I found out I have to pay the full monty back and I can BARELY support myself and my girlfriend at this moment. In fact ITT is part of the reason why my ex-fiancee left me and caused a series of hardships between my family and myself. That leads to the failings on behalf of career services.
I managed to work on a website on my own, a fan site, by my own knowledge. In fact it was my experience with my website that lead me to deciding to go to ITT until I could find a college (and had money from the eventual job I hoped to have acquired) to finance a return back to school for my career path of Vertebrate paleontology, an interest I am still continuing on my own. Job services at ITT has found me only one job and that was for a shady business based out of Sebring, OH where I was getting paid barely above minimum wage with 3 days of work a week. I was told by this employer to lie, for future jobs, and inform others they were paying me anywhere betweem 8 and 10 dollars an hour. Further, after I lost that job, I was forced to eventually move back to Arizona after I tried to find a job internationally. At one point for an interview I was told I should "go work at McDonalds because that's as good as you're going to get with a degree from them." by a fellow named Dom from Costal Pet out of Alliance, OH. Needless to say I moved to Arizona, because I had to (living with another parent again) and I tried contacting the ITT career services out in Phoenix, that was about as much of a waste of time as it was to go to this school.
Needless to say my road back to Ohio was long and it took a lot of discussing with people and apologizing for committing myself to a hack technical college. I don't want to pay my loans. I blame them for all of my hardships and they caused a clear breach in contract I feel with not living up to their end of the bargain with helping me as they said. I currently work for a job, that I acquired on my own, that the minimum requirement was a High School degree or GED equivalent. I was also told, by a few of my coworkers no less, that all ITT grads end up working for my current employer. I refuse to pay one red cent to Sallie Mae for my loans with ITT and I want to take legal action to make them pay and retribute me - in full - pay for my hardships (as a result), legal fees, and finance my education to a college of my chosing and pay for my living expenses. They deserve it because it caused me a lot of unnecessary suffering because they failed to live up to their end of the bargain.

I was a hard working father, my wife is disabled and I have a daughter. Like I mentioned above I was a hard working father, I quit my high paying job to go to school at ITT-Tech, I took out loans without being told they would be going to the school not to me. This is the only school I have ever heard of doing this. I qualified for fafsa, you would think that the whole amount of 5,500 dollars a semester would pay for it. I was asked if I wanted the loan, of course I said yes, I have a wife and daughter to feed, but I did not know what crooks they are. Thankfully, I got out in 2 weeks, but now they are saying that I will be charged for those two weeks, I spoke to a representative today and she told me that they will be sending it back to the lender once they caculate how much money I owe them, if in fact the loan will pay it, if not I will receive a bill. So, that is my job caculations of 30,000 a year, the loan for 5500 dollars, so I have lost out on 35,000 dollars. There is nothing I can do. That is why I have turned to this. They need to be taken off the commercials and I need my money back. I will do all I can do to get this done. I will not let anyone steal from me and this might even prohibit me from going to a real college. I know that it might be hard to do so, but it will be done. I will take from them what they have taken from me.

I graduated with a 3.8 in 2005. I moved out of state and found a job. But i wanted to go to back to school to get a bachelors degree. But my credits are not transferable to state college. How am I supposed to advance ever? ITT told me to explain all of the curriculum that I learned while I was at ITT and they should accept most of my credits. No i have this huge amount of debt because i dont make enough money to pay my loans in full every month and it keeps building higher.

Went to the entrance interview and they had great pyramid charts. The gorgeous representative had a opening statement telling me all about what ITT can offer. She covered all the usual questions a bright lad would ask before i could ask them Including; this school is accredited ( not nationally, never heard of such a thing) and that the job placement is 95% for all students and how no regular school guarantees those kind of numbers. She then said how her son had attended that school and got a 4.0 and got a job right away with general electric making 40k to start. knew it was a ton of money but the class style sounded good and long as i'm guaranteed a job after. So I go and I take such easy classes, with such easy teachers. My fellow students are mostly low income, ex-military and foreign. The whole school is like all complaints say it is; financial aid screwed me the entire 2 years, i must have visited 20 plus times with many errors. We went through at least 4 maybe 5 deans, and the education and equipment was very sub-standard. But i'm really only upset about two things. First is that some students would show up for 1 hour of a 4 hour class twice out of 8 classes and end up passing the course. Some students couldn't read but yet would end up continuously in the further courses. That made me upset because i was trying to separate myself from these slackers but couldn't. There was clearly fudging of numbers or something because these peoples efforts were a JOKE literally non-existent.. So needless to say I graduated with a 4.0 in June, 2010 with about 5 or less of the original 40 people and did land an internship which had no intention of hiring me on full time. I have been in very close contact with career services until recently trying and land a job with no success. They just say they'll keep sending my resume out. They-re just hoping i stop bugging them soon. The next closest kid in my class/field (networking) had a 3.2 something. I saw written on the chalk board in the career office that 26 percent of kids from the last semester had been placed (95 percent huh) and of those they were making on average 25k per year. I was making 15 and hour before my ignorance led me to this money pit. Needless to say ITT-Tech is not worth a second look by ANYONE, and I can only hope someone planning on attending will read this and reconsider ruining their financial futures over a job they will probabley never get. Thanks alot for false promises. I just went and took a civil service exam and am now going to be prison guard lol.

I attended Itt-tech from June 2008-June 2010 and recieved an associates in applied science criminal justice. I was misreprensented on the schools accrediation and financial aid. They told me not to worry about my father co-signing on a loan to cover my tuition. All the while they were giving me in school credit I did not know about. 2 weeks before graduation they pulled me into the fiancial aid office and tole me I had to come up with $10,000 or I wouldn't graduate. There is only one company they do private loans with. I opened a loan with them and it has a $12,000 finance charge and a 25% interest rate. On top of the $50k I paid with financial aid the total cost for the private loan is $42k. A $10K loan amounts to $42k!! The end result is a $92K associates degree. They never once used any the lab materials, if they even worked I have no Idea. I graduated with bogus honors. The teachers were always late. Most of my teachers didn't even have a bachelors degree. There is so much more to say about this place. I have been looking for people to open a class action lawsuit against ITT-Tech. If anyone has any info please let me know. I can give more info on my situation but would rather speak in person.

I went to ITT Tech originally because of their claim that they take transfer credits from the military. I was only 12 credits short of an associates so this seem like a win-win situation. However only 2 classes were accepted. When I transferred from Arnold MO to Albuquerque I was told that I would need to retake those classes. I took me 6 months and many calls for ITT Albuquerque to "allow" me to keep the transfer credits. As for the school being all about money I agree. I was a military veteran as well as a military spouse. So I was entitled to my G.I. Bill as well as tuition assistance. When I inquired about this I was never able to get an answer and was forced to take out student loans with Salli Mae in order to pay for my school.
I graduated in December 2007. While still in school I worked with the career counselors to find employment. All that was ever available for electronics students were job in costumer care or cable installers. With the 5yrs of electronics experience from the military and my degree from ITT, the career counselors were unable to find jobs that were a match for me paying more than $12/hr.
The education that I received was far below par. We were allowed to have notes for all tests and were always given a review right before the test that was nothing but giving us the answers to the test.
The practices of this "school" need to be changed.

I graduated from ITT in Dec '07 with a 'degree' in multimedia. After I graduated, all ITT did was send me ads culled from local newspapers for jobs which I did not qualify. They pigeonholed me into creating a final project which would not allow me to compete for jobs in my area. They disallowed me the opportunity to create what I felt would be a meaningful portfolio. I worked my ass off. I have three kids, and I graduated with honors. I feel like they gave me the old 'bait-and-switch' routine, because after I graduated they wanted me to spend $18K more dollars to get a degree in project management, which was not even in my field of interest, or study. What a feakin' mistake it was to waste so much time and money at ITT.

Because they would give me credit towards my Bachelor degree I agree to enter this program. I already had an ADN degree when I enrolled. During the first two years I took courses that were bachelor courses. Upon finishing the Computer technology courses they told me they were not going to have a BSCE at the Oxnard campus and that I would have to travel 100 miles to the Sylmar campus. The courses they gave me credit for were the Portfolio and group dynamic courses of which they do not allow challenges to. In other words in order to recieve an AS degree I would have to come up with another 4 grand. I worked hard for my grades and I know that I knew more than my fellow students because they would ask me to explain the curriculum to them. Somehow they ended up with A's also. HHHMMM

ITT Technical Institute promised me a job after graduation and the only thing they assisted me with was the composition of a resume. They weren't concerned about my career paths or where I would end up after leaving this school.
They charged me hidden fees for Financial Aid and I could never get rid of Temporary Credit owed from that school. When I got ready to ask for an official transcript, they told me that I could not get one because I owed a balance through their school. I have never heard of anything like this before.
They allowed me to enroll in their school with only a Certificate of Completion and once it got close to graduation, I had to return to school and try to get a diploma in order to graduate. They tried their best to hold me from graduating, but I still ended up getting my degree. They had running all over Broward County to try to get a diploma and I had to end up paying for all the expenses.
I have been verbally and physically discriminated by staff at ITT Technical Institute as well.

I could not make up my mind if I should go to ITT or a Community College but I wanted to go for my Associates then Bachelors. I met with an ITT counselor who put on the old trusty Salesman hat and began telling me about all of the positives of attending ITT and all the negatives of attending a Community college. The ability to obtain a Bachelors degree was the most important thing to me and ITT only offered an Associates at that time. The counselor told me that ITT had converted several associates programs over to bachelors programs and that mine was in the works and scheduled for completion by the end of my first year. They also told me that some of the degree programs would transfer to University of Houston and mine would as well. I bit, hook, line, and sinker. I enrolled and when my first year was complete there was no bachelors program. A faculty member told me that there would be no Bachelors program developed for my degree program so I met with the Counselor. I wanted to quit the school since I was only a year in but the Counselor convinced me that it was in the works and that it would be available to me by the time I graduated. So comes graduation, no Bachelors degree program in sight and best of all, when I tried to enroll at University of Houston they didn’t accept my ITT credits! I kept tabs for about a year after graduating and they still had not developed the program as promised. The only reason I went to ITT was to get the Bachelors and they lied to get me in. Had they been honest upfront I would have never gone to ITT. Had they been honest at the end of my first year, I wouldn’t have owed $15,000 in loans. Had they been honest at all I wouldn't have $30,000 in loans I cannot pay. There were other problems as well, such as; training us on severely outdated systems and not receiving return phone calls from Career service when trying to find a job. So here I am, struggling to make ends meet, not being able to pay enough on the loans to overtake the penalties and interest, bad credit, years of stress and anguish so something needs to happen. I wish I could just give them the dang degree back as if it never happened and they wipe that debt clean. All of this mess has impacted the quality of life for me and my family and I would absolutely love nothing more than to get a divorce from Sallie Mae. Please Help!!!

I obtained my Bachelors in Business Accounting Technology in March of this year from ITT Technical Institute in Indianapolis (online programs). I have since found out that my degree is not legit, and I cannot take my CPA exam until I have taken classes from an accredited university (which I did not know when I signed up for this). I specifically told the admissions department/counselor that I was working with that I desired to obtain my CPA, and now am finding out that this was a big waste of time, and to obtain my Master's degree, I need to transfer my credits to another university at 2.67 credits per 4 ITT credits. Did I also mention that because I cannot get a job in Accounting, as I had wanted to, I am falling into bankruptcy?

I was told upon admission that ITT was required by grantor for living expenses (Pell Grant) to have ITT as immediate recipient of quarterly-distributed living expenses checks. ITT would then cut there own check to me within two weeks of respective receipt. I didn't receive 2nd quarter disbursement from ITT for 3-1/2 weeks, causing me to pay rent late. 3rd quarter check from ITT didn't arrive for 5 weeks, forcing me out of my residence and back into the homeless shelter. I was so despondent and the shelter was so far away from ITT/Tucson campus that I couldn't complete degree.
This was back in 1993. I'm probably standing outside some statute of limitation or other, but the fact is that after subsequent years of abuse by Arizona State healthcare and accruing over $21,000 in debt from the Dept of Education since then, I am, and have been, an emotional wreck ever since.
The only reason I'm pursuing this now is that GAO (Gov't Accountability Office) recently filed a report covering similar abuses by other for-profit "educational" institutions. When I heard about this in the news today, the rage I've been dealing with off and on all these years returned. Having been unemployed for the better part of a year now, I'm having difficulty finding the nerve to fight "the good fight" anymore. Honestly, I dealt with less stress "going underground", hiding from the IRS the whole time, working "under the table", etc.
I made a sincere effort 4 years ago to change my life around. Worked tech support for over two years, then had the carpet pulled out from under me and contract closed.
Unethical practices by my bank and my cell phone provider at the time, compounded by the fact that public transportation costs had more than doubled overnight around the same time period, have left me with very little motivation to pick myself up by my own bootstraps yet again.
I'm more than willing to accept responsibility for how I've responded to all this over the years, but that in NO WAY excuses/dismisses the abuse received from ITT or the subsequent devastation I've suffered since.

there like car sellers. they sugar coat whatever they can, they pretened to be your friend and use your vulnerable side to convince you to do whatever they want for there profit. to this day I hate that recruiter for having so little integrity in telling the truth.
they promised a quality education. when i was in school every week the practice tests was exactly what the test was. the finals was exactly like the study guides. it didn't much to get good grades just going to class and taking notes would guarentee you to a A. i feel like i was cheated out of my education and now im stuck with a mountain of debt.
currently im 40k+ debt from student loans alone. after graduating school they didnt even open bother helping me find a job. after i found myself a job they asked me to come in and say they were glad to help? after that they gave me this questionaire if i was using my degree in this new job and i told them you guys didnt help me find a job. i put on the paper all the negatives that they caused me the cordinator during that time was shocked.
till this day everytime i email them about job leads and putting me on the job lead email spam. i get totally ignored, i asked to come back to class so i can refresh my brain on some of the stuff i learned from school and i get no call back. only time i get a call back now adays is want to come back to get your bachelors degree? have you been paying your loans etc...
still a year later after college i have yet to even find a job in my career field. i remember it was yesterday that recruiter told me i was smart and i could make easy 15-$20 an hour after i finish school. im lucky now adays to even get hired by anyone. countless interviews and resumes. to be honest im very out going and my interviewing skills are top notch.
now im in debt. about to go into bankruptcy soon, hoping to prove that i was screwed over and that im never going to be able to use this degree. i only make 1,025 a month after taxes. i dont even have a car. i lost my girlfriend. i dont even have a place to stay but sleep on the floor at a friends house. oh if your confused. i couldnt find a job for a whole year after graduation. nothing that would even pay close to what i needed to survive and pay for my car and apartment i had. everything is gone i have no life. now all i can do is pray that when i meet with my debt reduction person that she approves that i can do bankruptcy and that my attorney would fight to get my student loans discharged. cause i this rate and all else fails. i rather die than live a life with defaulted fed loans where i working for nothing.
sorry for my grammer. just didnt feel like making it too proper and just expressing my feelings.

I had 3 classes that I surely didn't earn an A - yet I got them. Six students were placed in Networking when we wanted Web Development. We were told that we would be able to transfer to Web as soon as it started. We were placed in Programming - a class that they were phasing out. We were not able to get into the Web classes, school said it was too late for us. Six of us confronted the program chair informing him we didn't know anything - we were concerned about gaining employment. The program chair and another teached came into our class on final day and gave us a crash course in C++. They asked question thruout and none of us could answer even their most basic questions - could tell this due to the look on their faces and the looks they were giving each other - we clearly did not know this program and did not deserve to pass - let alone get an A in this class. I mentioned to financial aid several times that the 17%interest being charged on the 400000 was ridiculous and I didn't want to sign the papers, I wanted them to look for other options for me - I was told to sign the papers so I could attend class and they would look further for me - never looked never a response to my many inquiries as to what alternatives were available. I asked every quarter why I wasn't receiving Pell Grant money. My husband and I were both unemployed - any other school would have made Pell Grant money while attending.
This business is a joke - no educaiton. I spoke to head of
Programming about the lack of education - he told me to get a "for dummies" book

So I attended ITT-Tech in Illinois for IT-Computer network system and the only job I’ve been able to hold is call centers which only pay 10-15 an hour. They never really specified what type of position was out there for this type of degree, everyone that was in my class most of them work in a call center, bank and Nursing.
I have over 30,000+ in loans and no job to show for it.. While I was attending classes most of our books were taking away because they needed to be revised due to too many errors that were found by the students. Some of the courses stop using the books all together. None of my general class credits are transferred so now I have to start over from the beginning. Me and a few of class mates learned that we all took the same course but each one of us paid a different price for the same degree.

I dropped out of high school in 2004 when I was 16 years old. I realized my mistake when I turned 18 and chose to get my GED. After successfully completing the test, I chose to make the best of it and pursue a college education.
That same year, I signed up at ITT Tech in Troy, Michigan in the Web Development field. I was quite confident in my choice because I had heard good things about ITT Tech.
A year into my program I began to plan a move to Houston, Texas. I looked up the campuses in the Houston area and none of them had the Web Development program, so I switched my program to Multimedia, which the Houston area campuses had and was similar enough to the Web Development program so that I would not have to take additional classes.
When it came time to move in Fall of 2008, I wrote a letter to the dean and registrar's office at my campus and met with them face to face several times to discuss my move so that the transition from one campus to another would be as quick and painless as possible. They both assured me that it was a simple transition and that all I had to do was go to the campus of my choosing in the Houston area and they would fax over all my records and I could then resume my classes.
I moved to Houston in October of 2008 and I immediately contacted the campus closest to me to get the ball rolling on my transfer. Upon making contact I was informed that the Houston area campuses no longer had Multimedia and, according to the woman I spoke with, had not had it for a while, something ITT's website contradicted as I had checked it and even called the campus to make sure just weeks prior to my move.
Needless to say, I was trapped. I could not move back to Michigan simply to complete my program, and I had no way of completing my program in Houston. I was basically left with three options: change programs again, take online courses, or drop out. The most similar program to mine was Drafting & Design, which would have taken another year of classes and racked up even more debt to give me a degree in a field which I did not want to work in. Multimedia also was not offered online at the time. So my only option became to drop out.
To make a long story short, I was not informed by the Houston area campus nor the Troy campus prior to my move that the Multimedia program was being phased out in Houston. I was assured my transfer would be fine and I could resume classes without worry. I moved to Houston believing I could finish my education and pursue a rewarding career in a field that I enjoyed. Instead, all I found waiting for me in Houston was an inability to finish my education, a forced decision to drop out, and $50,000+ in student loan debt with no degree to show for it.
I was betrayed by this school. Poor communication and poor advertising of the programs offered through the website and internal resources available to students led me down a path which I had no other choice than to drop out and essentially render that year of my life wasted. Without even mentioning the poor quality of teachers and student resources available at the Troy campus, I feel utterly violated and robbed of my future because of the pathetic management and operation of this COMPANY. This is not a school, it is a company, and one that needs to be shut down.

I have 40K+ of debt (stopped counting) via Sallie Mae (ITT Tech's preferred henchman).
ITT Tech never got me a job in the field. I had to do it myself. They claimed 95% of their students obtain technical jobs after graduation starting off at 40K and many times much higher than this.
This is a blatant lie. I was at the top of the list when I gradudated. And no I didn't bomb any interviews, because I didn't get any interviews through ITT tech after I graduated. Not a one. They made a few half hearted attempts at calling me.
Now I am stuck trying to deal with the tyranical Sallie Mae. If you have any questions about Sallie Mae just google their name and you will see just how many people are in the same boat as I am.
I am willing to go all the way to bring down not only ITT Tech but also Sallie Mae. I will do anything necessary so others don't falter such as I have.

Charged me $40,000.00 and told me they were "accredited". Throughout my time ther I realized you do not need to work hard to pass, or even graduate with high marks. EVERYONE PASSES if they just show up. This makes it impossible for those who want credibility when they graduate. Now I am left with over $40,000.00 in student loan debt and nothing to show for it.

When I joined ITT I was told for an Associates degree the total would be $35000. Of course I was promised with the training I receive it would be easy to get a job making anywhere around $50000. For some reason I didn't get approved for financial aid even though I didn't have any income at the time but I was approved for loans from Sallie Mae and some Federal loans. I thought that was strange but figured I'll just reapply for financial aid the next semester. To make a long story short after attending the school for 2 years (jobless at the time) I was never "approved " for financial aid. Part of me feels they never even tried to get me financial aid. Now I'm lucky to have gotten a job making somewhere near $35000, my student loans that I haven't been able to repay are upwards of $80000 combined private and federal loans. And this is all for 2 years of a half ass education. Now I'm going to be sued by my private lenders and my federal lenders are already garnishing my wages. Next step for me is to become homeless.

The “recruiter” at ITT told me wonderful tales of a 98% hire-on percentage for their graduates in their respective fields and of their exceptional job placement program. I was desperate for stability and approaching 30 years old, so this was just what I needed to hear. I was sold. I was in and out of the finance section of the school (about a 4th of the total campus size) within an hour of walking in the door.
I chose their Computer Networking course because the recruiter told me that out of all of the courses that they offered, network engineers were in the highest demand and had the highest average salary ($86,000.00 was the number quoted, I remember this because it was 3 times the cost of tuition). This, combined with a 98% hire-on percentage and the job placement program they had seemed too good to be true. They had their hooks in me.
I later learned that the computer networking course had just been implemented, I was in the 2nd class to graduate in the computer networking course. The 1st class was a quarter ahead of me studying the same curriculum. They were so lost teaching us that the school went through 5 different networking instructors. No one (Course teacher/advisor) would stay for more than 2 quarters. We were constantly given the questions to mid-terms and finals, usually the week prior to the exams. This was a regular occurrence because everyone was lost in the curriculum. If we hadn't been given the questions so that we could look up the answers beforehand, about 50% of the class would have failing scores. This happened on several occasions and each time, the tests were either given again after giving us a very detailed “study guide” or dumbed down to multiple choice. It was impossible to learn cover to cover 5,200 pages of highly technical information with no hands-on lab time. They HAD to inflate grades. How could a school justify charging $30,000 (in '02) for a fly-by-the-seat of your pants curriculum that was junk and failed miserably?
We had a total of three 4 hour classes of hands-on training with a Cisco switch, no hands-on training with a router, the backbone of all networks.
The only people in my graduating class that now have carriers in networking that I'm aware of are the two people that were already in the field before their attendance at ITT. I keep in touch with ten or so friends I made while at ITT, who in turn know a few of the others, none of which know anyone who went on to work in computer networking. And as to their exceptional job placement program, all they did for us was a mock interview. Not one employer was ever contacted, and none recruited from my networking class of ITT. To me this is a very telling fact. No one wanted us and the school knew it.
How can these people get away with this? This is worse than a ponzi scheme, at least in that scenario people see some ROI.
Frankly, I feel scammed, as does everyone I know I graduated with.
After graduating and being rejected by every possible employer in the field, I went back to the only two things I know, wallpaper and painting. Now with no new construction and less renovation, competition in these job markets are very strong. I can not find work. Now that I have no transportation, it is almost impossible to survive (no public transportation in rural Alabama).
I am in the worst shape of my life financially and emotionally ,desperate for relief.

I am a single mother of three kids. I went to ITT-Tech to try to better my life for them and myself. I took criminal justice because it seemed like a good job field. I was going for fingerprint analysist. While there the labs that we was suppose to have for training was not what they should have been and they did not have all the equipment and the equipment they did have they only had one of and it didn't work. The teachers while they did work in thier field did not have all the knowledge needed to teach. The careers service only offered jobs that did not really pretain to any of the careers in which they taught. I can not use my degree due to the fact that it is not credited. The guy from the loan institute called me about my student loan and ask if I was using my degree and asked where I graduated from and when I told him he laughed and said a degree from there is not usable. I feel like I was taken for a ride. When I applied for my student loans I was told I would only be required to pay $50.00 a month they want like $500.00 a month I can't afford that I can't get a job with my degree and feel like I was lied to.
