Case Summary: I need as many people to join me as possible so we can put a stop to this so it does not happen to anybody else. For profit schools should be done away with. Case Detail: I went to ITT so I could get a degree in Drafting and Design. I had concerns about some of the classes that I was taking, classes that had nothing to do with my degree. I was told by my Dean, Department Chair, and many of the other staff members that these classes was nothing more then to give student the amount of hours needed for the school to keep it's credits. One of the classes you would not get your book until the fourth week of class when you needed the book at the start of class, they would lie to the student by saying the book was not in yet and the whole time the book store would be flooded with the books. I know this to be a fact because I worked in the book store. By being a student worker there I was able to see a lot of things that go on behind closed doors like an instructor leaving the property with a student in their car to spend personal time wit them. When she went to pull out she hit another students car and pulled away with out stopping, this was nothing short of hit and run. When she returned she parked on the other end of the parking lot where the D.O.R. caught her with the student still in her car. Nothing was ever done about this, reports was made but still nothing. This instructor should have be fired for committing a crime on school property and spending personal time with a student off of school property. They wanted to keep it quit so the school as a whole would not get in trouble. The funny part of it all is that in every class room they have signs hanging in them saying how you (the student) would be kicked out if you lie or use other peoples work as your work. ITT lies to no end to keep the money coming in no matter what the subject is. If you get in the way of profit they will get rid of you student or instructor. If enough students missed a class they would let that instructor go, with that in mind instructors would give students extra credit just for showing up to class. When I was in math one I was given enough credits for showing up that I was able to pass. I did not deserve to pass because I did not learn anything, and it was like this in a lot of my classes. When you are at ITT they pump you all up letting you think you are becoming a master in your field just to go out in the real world to be laughed out of the work place. I feel like I went in debt for nothing, I have been out of school for a year now and still no work. The only job ITT helped me get I was sent out with a boot in my ass and telling me I did not know anything. Back before I started school I had no job and was unable to feed my girls. After two days of my girls going hungry I just could live with my self any more and was going to end my life, being a loving father and feeling like a failure I just couldn't handle it any longer. When I put the gun in my mouth and was ready to end it all ITT called. While I was on the phone to them I had told them everything that was going on and they told me to come to school and it would all change. Well I went and here I sit three years later and things are ten times as bad as they was, still unable to eat, pay my bills, when I apply for a job and they find out that I went to ITT they no longer talk to me, and I no longer have a family. I feel like ITT took advantage of me when I was an easy target just so they could get all the money they can. Can some body please help me I am at the end of my rope with no hope in sight. |
