Chrysler - Engine failure due to oil sludge

The 2.7 liter engine in many Chrysler cars fails due to engine sludge despite proper consumer maintenance. This is a known problem and has already led to class action lawsuits in many states. Chrysler tries to blame the consumer and refuses to honor any warranty. This is not the fault of the consumer, this is a defective engine! I am in Michigan and would like to get a class action lawsuit going here, and this should also be done in *every* state, not just those already involved.

The engine failed without warning. The mechanic gave the diagnostic that the oil pump broke and caused the total disfunction of the motor. I keep this car well maintained only using the best oil when I do the oil changes.

Car was 2 years when failed, couldn't afford to fix it; it's been sitting up about 3 years, can't afford to fix it; currently being sued by finance company for $20,000; already paid $26,000 into car.
It was in shop most of time. Car dealership worked on it claiming it wasn't blown while others said it was. They took money for water pump, head gaskets, etc and it still seized shortly thereafter and when I went back they were closed down.

Chrysler knew abou8t the oiling gallery and design a long time ago. Kind of funny that the 3.5 has the same issue. I replaced the engine on the 2001 LHS with a 3.5 from a 2006 Pacifica. The engine oiling design is completely improved. Now I purchased a 2001 Sebring Convert and it now has a nasty rod knock. I am looking for a decent used 2.7L on Craigs list. There are none, kinda shows how bad a problem it is.
In my opinion Chrysler owes me around 3500 for both cars.

Guess what I have one of those POS engines in my 2007 chrysler 300. Oh yes and we are screwed because Chrysler took their 4.5 million of the AMERICAN paid bailout and ran straight to bankruptcy. So the "new" chrysler is free and clear of our lawsuits. So guess what ma'am your extended max care warranty is crap on this matter as well. Thank you american made Chrysler for selling crap and potentially causing a fatality. We were almost rearended when our car died without warning while driving down the road. Had our 2 young children in the backseat, but Im sure the "new" Chrysler doesnt care because they are free from this problem. EXCUSE ME but if you take on a company YOU should be held responsible for the product you continue to let be sold and put on the road!! Regardless of when it was manufactured!!
So sorry to burst anyones bubble on here but we can't sue Chrysler because they are the "new" Chrysler. All class action lawsuits that were going on were prevented from going on due to the switching of hands and had to be dropped.

I own a 2001 Sebring Limited Convertible- I call it my toy- but I can't enjoy it anymore because in the Fall of 2009 the Engine Failed with no warnings- Car was Maintained & very well taken care of- now my car sits at the dealership, with part of the engine in the trunk - I don't have the money to replace the engine with a new rebuilt one that has an awesome warranty on it- I am tired of this company & seeing all those that they have screwed over not do anything to fix THEIR problem- A problem they have known about for years - and all they do is turn around and blame it on the owner of the car. I have started a community page on facebook- called Chrysler/Dodge 2.7L Engine Problems- we need our voices to be heard-

I bought a 2-year-old 99 Intrepid weeks before graduating from college. After putting about twenty thousand miles on the car the engine seized. I was left with a paperweight that I still owed $7,000 on. I think that Dodge owes me at least $7,000. I was repeatedly lied to about known problems with the 2.7. A 5 star dealership told me that it was fixable. After putting the engine back together they informed me that the engine was ruined and I owed them $1,500. I was able to talk them down to $700 after contacting the Kansas Attorney General's Office. I talked to a service department at a different dealership and I then learned about the problems with the car. I called Sunflower Dodge in Olathe, KS and presented my problem as if I hadn't already taken the car anywhere to see what they suggested. The mechanic told me that the engine was blown. He said that he couldn't be 100% sure if it was a total loss without doing some diagnostic work but he said that they had begun to see this very frequently with that particular engine. The 5 star service department at Bud Brown Dodge told me nothing like this. If I had known that these cars were known to have massive engine failure I never would have agreed to have them do anything.
